Chip Frawley

If that did happen, who would Roosy chase to trade our Pick 2.

They way we are playing we'll nail down Pick 1 without tanking.

If that was the case he would try and do another Tyson/Salem deal.

Would be nice if we got just one draft period with the kind of red carpet treatment they give to expansion clubs.

Can't see many others clubs supporting it, but ultimately it would be extremely bad news for the AFL if we didn't improve this year. They need us to improve and they need it to look like their appointment of Jackson & Roos has been a raging success. The damage to the game, supporters, broadcasters and stadiums is enormous if teams get flogged every week.

It has a potently damaging effect on the AFL brand itself, and more importantly their bottom line. In short, they really can't afford to let us fail this time. If nothing else, they're contractually obliged to have 18 teams until 2017.

Thought this was the best place to put it - Robbo has reported in the HUN that Chip has put an 800k bounty on his head to switch clubs. If someone is willing to pay it and he leaves then we would get a very, very good draft pick in return (if we finish last then we get 1 and 2 for example).

Not sure how to feel about this to be honest. Article is here:

Frawley vs Pick 2?

Hmm.

I'd go for Pick 2. By the law of averages, surely our next high pick will turn out to be a legend-in-the-making?

Depends on what we do with the pick. Our strike rate in terms of drafting speaks for itself, and good tall defenders don't just grow on trees.

But Chip isn't worth 800k, and I don't think I'd be a fan of the club paying him that either.

pick 2 absolutely

Its not up for debate

Pick 1 and 2 and let the real rebuild begin

But we need PJ and Roos to commit long term

Pick 1 2 and 3. Dont forger our priorirty pick

Pick 1 2 and 3. Dont forger our priorirty pick

I was going to mention this. Surely if we finish last again with Roos at the helm the AFL will have to admit we're in trouble and allocate PP to the club?

Not really. I just can't see them giving in no matter how badly we perform. They have apparently decided that the PP is too powerful a tool and are never going to break it out again unless we see another expansion team. I would say that the precedent they are setting with us, if they adhere to it in the future, would pretty much eliminate the chance of any club ever getting one again.

Have to get a Priority this year. Pick 1, 2 and 3. Chip wouldn't be putting a price on his head if he hadn't decided to check out - and who could blame him. Undoubtedly we'll trade one of those picks to GWS again for them to draft a future brownlow medalist.

Would you consider it for Treloar?

We can forget landing a Dangerfield or a Mundy; they'll only come home to competitive sides. Those sides have plenty of coin to throw around too; if you're Dangerfield, would you go to the Cats for $700k a year or move to Melbourne for $900k a year? I know what I'd do.

I'd like to keep Frawley but I think I'd rather pick 2 if it became a choice.

I'm a big fan of Chippa but he is dreaming if he thinks he is worth 800k a year. You would have to be a flawless backmen and we all know Chip is far from that. I wonder how much the reigning Norm smith Medalist is on? Some managers must bloat the ego's of their players to the extreme. See ya later Chip.

It's probably what the hawks are prepared to offer hence why his management has come out in the media with his price tag.

So much for "seeing the direction of the club" before deciding!!!!!!!

Good luck at the hawks.

I seriously hate Hawthorn. Any team would be good when every free agent/out of contract player wants to go there and then seems to get there without a drama.

We will not get a priority pick, no established club will get one again.

800k... See ya chippa

If we finish at the bottom after an 8th poor year we would have to get one, especially as we would be even weaker without Frawley and possibly Clark.

2 young kids won't save us, remember last time. One is gone and the other is in the VFL.

We will need a significant amount of on field help and that means a high draft pick and a few more to trade for players added to the picks we get for where we finish and for possibly losing our full back.

It's not just the Hawks that are chasing hard, the crows, giants, suns are as well that i know of, and the suns would certainly pay 800k for him, i just hope to go we don't try and match it

    DERAILMENT by KC from Casey

It wasn’t quite a trainwreck although at times, it sure looked like one, so I’ll settle for “derailment”.  The trip to Brighton Homes Arena in Springfield outside the back of Brisbane might not exactly be the same place where Homer Simpson’s family resides but, if you listened closely to the utterances of the Casey Demons fans both at the ground or watching via livestream, you could hear lots of groaning and plenty of expressions of “D'oh!” reverberating in the background, particular

TEN YEARS AFTER by Whispering Jack

Things have changed in the more than ten years since the West Coast Eagles decimated Melbourne by 93 points on the MCG early in the 2014 season. The two sides had not met at the home of football in the interim until yesterday when Melbourne won by a comfortable 54 points to remain in contention for this year’s finals series. Back in those days, the Demons were in the midst of their Great Depression but they have since tasted premiership glory and experienced a long enough period among

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
