Proud to be one of those people! Wish I had a chance to thank the man face to face, but he's always in the thick of it teaching the players something new.

What do you do when you're in Newcastle on business? Well, you pass through Melbourne on Friday before returning to Perth for umm... more business.

Pretty happy that it's an intraclub also.

It's really been a strange preseason. We're reading on an almost daily basis about players going down with injuries. Most AFL clubs are affected and it's going to be very interesting how the different clubs fare with injuries over the year. Dave Misson had a great record with injuries when he last combined with Paul Roos and I'm hoping he can repeat it in 2014 at Melbourne.

Guys (and sue) I was thinking at late notice those attending tomorrows training could pick 3 or 4 players to focus there eyes on in the intraclub and post observations. That way we get a view of a lot of the list. I'll nominate myself to Strauss, Michie and Hunt.

If others can do the same for other players then that would be great.

Great idea. Roger should be able to handle cut & paste about 12 players on his own.

Two more today. Robert Murphy (WB) out for 8 weeks and Kieran Harper (NM) gone for 6 weeks.

Fingers crossed for tomorrow.

I was very excited by the prospect of making it to Wednesday's training - bummer .

I cant get there tomorrow so will be relegated to cutting and pasting (hopefully Tas will post himself).

Good idea though master! Satyriconhome can have Bail, Byrnes and Westrupp

All over it Rog.

Edit: apparently the last one I posted was the fourth most liked post on this site and biggest in terms of likes on a training report. I think I may have a fair bit to live up to.

Better familiarise yourself with the location of the public toilets beforehand Tasman, just in case you get the nervous runs. And keep hydrated!

I love posters on here who attempt humour and fail so spectacularly

From the reports thus far we seem to be going for a more attacking style than the classic Sydney stoppage machine. Lots of drills have focused on fast movement through or near the corridor.

We seem to have an emphasis on getting the ball to CHF to open up our options going into the F50 rather than the Neeld plan of attacking along the flank which limited the options for our forwards.

There has also been a suggestion that it will be short accurate passing out of defence followed by the running/attacking movement from HB to the forward line.

I suspect that a lot will still depend on our back six, with the midfield basically trying to break even to stop the onslaught rather than dominating.

Historically Roos has also liked his talls, so I wouldn't be all that surprised to see extra talls appearing in the side in odd places some of the time. We could actually see Fitz on a wing.

Hmmmm. Almost sounds, dare I say it, Daniher-esque.

So did I just looking forward to Bail and Byrnes being oustanding today, Westrupp showing he has taken big steps....will post my usuall boring report later today

Loving the reports. Greatly appreciated.

I'd like someone to play devil's advocate and post a realistic report. I don't want them to be overly critical for the sake of it, but I also don't want the gushing reports where every player on the list looks like a frigging Super Duper STARrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Know what I mean ?

Thanks.

Meanwhile who's going to volunteer to focus on Nicholson and Pedersen?

Can't make training today unfortunately - damn work !

Really looking forward to people posting how the scratch match plays out.

In particular, some insight into: match ups, styles of play, structure/set up's & who wins them etc

Keen to hear how Roosy is playing with the squad in the lead up to pre-season games.

This is actually a great idea if it could be co-ordinated. A big if, unfortunately. But even if 3 posters did it, that's 9 players with a detailed write up.

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
