they didnt go to america because of dawes's knee

think about it, franklin is one of the greatest forwards of all time and roughead is the raining coleman. clark has played 15 games as a forward and barely gets through 4 quaters dawes hasnt even come close to 50 goals in a season. its nothing close to hawthorn

dawes is as slow as a snail and doesnt have the greatest leap, could be effective one out monstering a smaller opposition in the goal square, but clark cant run so he will be there. Howe doesnt think about what he is doing, rather just jumps at it, often on a team mate, which then takes them out of the play. clark does the same.

as for no one disputing that, only demonlanders dont dispute that. the same people who ever pre season for the past 7 years claim all these players to be looking sharp and on track every pre season and things look on the up. the strike rate is low and is has very little credibility.

- Roughead is the raining coleman winner bc of the game plan I just talked about.

- The fact they were planning to go together to the states should say a bit about how they train and work together

- Clark can run when not injured

- Dawes would be played a FF for that reason (good im a contest)

... I cant be bothered anymore.

From my first post I have been describing a collective group, a team. All you have done is shown examples of individual members in situations where they have been for the most part by themselves.

So let me revert back to my first point; if Dawes, Clark, Hogan and Howe could all play together - do you think we would be unstoppable up forward?

Cheers for that Akum,

From the sounds of the three comments so far it's a similar picture being painted by each of you...

Another question.... if you can humour me, and it's about what you have seen from training that is how we might look at playing defensively. I think people have touched upon it, but any thoughts as to the structure our defence might take, are we looking to zone space? or employ something as frenetic at what Freo did with shutting down space and choking the opposition?

To me two way running indicates how you react to a turn over and what you do to get the ball back from that turn over... it's not exactly what we are planning to do to create our own turnovers. Forcing contests and stoppages is one aspect, but it would be great to get a clue to how the players will be setting up their defence all over the ground?

Thanks again folks, appreciate the insight!

Have you thought that maybe the reason they tell players not to visit the site is because they read what's on here?

Of course the Club keeps a close eye on here. They would be negligent not to as it's the best way for them to know what people are thinking. We've had Craig Cameron and Cameron Schwab posting on here and we've had directors and candidates for the Board post on here. I'd be stunned if we haven't had employees post on here.

Discussing the content of Demonland with staff is pretty harmless and benign. I don't agree with Satty on everything but he's got you here game set and match.

Is that what I was saying was I?

Telling Matt Burgan what a few choice [censored] on here think of his output is not the crux of the 'game, set and match.'

You can patronise me or you can try to understand what I am saying.

Hell, you can try both at the same time if you want to...

Just to correct you

1. I said i don't repeat what is posted on here, I don't have to, which obviously infers that the said person had read the posts about the website content doesn't it, it also means I have my own opinions

2. It wasn't Matt Burgan

you are massively underselling the talent of roughie right there

the fact they were planning a trip together says nothing about how they train and work together, except that they want to get better. (which is a good thing) but certainly doesnt mean they will definitely be cohesive on the field.

to answer your question - i think we COULD/POTENITALLY have an unstopabble forward line. surely you have been following this club long enough to know that nothing is certain.

Guys, leave Saty alone. He obviously has a great passion and deep love for the MFC. He goes to every game and most trainings as well as a lot of the Casey games. I wish I had his commitment. I'm glad a lot of the people at the Club see him and recognise his loyalty and treat him with the respect he deserves. Keep it up Saty! Wish we had more like you mate.

Sorry, but that is hogwash. Satyr deserves no respect for the way he acts towards fellow supporters.

All he does is lurk on here waiting to take his potshots at other posters, or Demonland as a whole, or draw attention to "conversations" he's had with anyone from Jesse Hogan to Doris the lunch lady. It seems he also likes to pass on what he's read here, maybe conveying it as a majority view when it is anything but.

Posters who consistently go out of their way to create friction should be given the boot. The site would be infinitely better off as a result.

Wow three different conversations on one thread, and not one about training on wed 22nd...

Love it.

Oucher + Akum - like this convo the most - reckon standard man on man in back line when ball coming in (or likely to), but spreading aggressively on the rebound. this is where Tom's engine and the nouse and ball use of Grimes and Strauss can be powerfull weapons for the counter attach from defense.

Timmyo64 - to argue Clark is bad for only playing 15 games then complain he's not kicked 50 in a season is silly. Mitch has played 15 games over two years for us and kicked 36 goals (average 2.4 per game). if he played 22 games at that average, he'd kick 52.8 goals. Duh!

rpfc + BB + ... - what is the point of your convo...

where did i say he was bad? i was saying he is not fully proven as a forward, no player in any position is proven after 15 games in any position. look at jamar one stand out season and since we have had nothing., we can't be relying on a player who can not stay fit. the fact he is injury prone does not mean he has less ability.

I've watched Clark play as a forward, kick goals as a forward...

He is a forward, best one in our team at the moment.

Is he as good as Roughie or Franklin, who cares?

and how could you tell short of swapping Clark into the Hawthorn team, I hear they have quite a good midfield, feeding their forwards...

I don't lurk, I am like everybody else I sit behind my keyboard, weapon in hand, ready to strike.

Create friction, with who, posters who don't agree with my viewpoint/opinions, so there is only a rule for me, then, how laughable

Again I don't pass on anything I read on here, this is a myth being perpetuated by a couple of posters, as I have said I don't need to

I don't need to draw attention, I pass on what I have been told by a player, asking permission first of course, in the hope of keeping supporters who bemoan the lack of information, informed

I only take pot shots at certain posters who deserve it, I don't do it very often now coz I have stopped reading their posts, you can do the same to mine if you wish, seems the answer really doesn't it

Training reports can become a bit tedious if they all say the same thing, mine I try and make a bit different, if you don't like them, don't read them, simple really

not sure what friction your referring to

i like his posts

How good Clark is as a Tall Forward when fit is not in dispute.

Its obvious (to me) he is having a bad pre-season and wont be ready to go Round one.

Its too fanciful to think Paul Roos is keeping all our Talls "under wraps" to unleash them on an unsuspecting AFL. Yet it seems there are those that think this is the story.

I believe Dawes and Clark are again or still (you choose) injured.

Most Magpie supporters say Dawes is always injured and only had one good year.

I have no faith in either their ability to be injury free or Melbournes ability to get them to put niggles behind them and play to win round one.

It is a concern. Clark was a major injury which hopefully they finally get right, the danger being he could be compensating and putting stress on other parts of his body. Dawes is a continuation of problems like he had at Collingwood and he seems to be chasing his tail.

Whilst a concern lets hope they get on the park for the best part of the season, we could do with a break.

Your insights into training and conversations with players are rightly valued, and if you are not repeating to players what is said on here, then I withdraw that comment.

If you can park the pettiness, as you say you're doing, I will have no criticism of you (other than your crap jokes, but no-one's perfect are they mate?)

How is Jayden Hunts progress going?

I think you just walked in on WW3...... not called Demonland for nothing!

As for Jayden he isnt as raw as I thought he would be - seems to be settling in well considering he was playing school footy. Not as skinny as I thought he was.

Highly doubt he will play next year.

Just thought the same thing. Not that skinny, not that raw. Wouldn't think he'd play a lot but then I thought you know he's fast and if he's hard and competitive then he might just be a chance at some stage. Main thing is he's on the track training so I hope he gets some nab challenge time.

on who plays NAB challenge, are there VFL / Casey practice matches running in Feb - MArch as well?

Given how many players need to gel with each other and the new plan this pre-season, that young players who won't feature round 1 would be overlooked...

And thank God for that.

Hope he stays that way after quite a number have been recruited with injuries or got them early and missed seasons in some cases.

Thanks to those who provided training reviews.

Am I the only one completely confused why any mod worth his salt doesn't just fly through these threads and delete the bickering?

The ratio of 'the same blokes going at each other over a keyboard' to 'football related' posts is enormous.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
