NB. I defended him early in the season based on his preseason form, against a torrent of Pedersen-hate.

I'm not one to take pot shots at players for the hell of it.

It's something I've noticed on multiple occasions in recent weeks, and I just hope it doesn't become a strong trend.

I can only imagine we ran out of interchanges, which if so was a potentially costly mistake.

Cam's doing a good job in his role, and as many have said on here, Roos is all about role players in a team.

We've been consistently low so don't think so. Just part of Jamar's timed breaks to get him off towards the end of quarters but they need to put him on even if a forward comes off and then swap him in play with Pedersen. Can't be defending the crucial last 3 minutes of the 3rd quarter without your starting ruck to bottle up the contests.

Not the first time Demonland has been wrong.

I also hope it's wrong about Spencer, Jetta, Toumpas and Watts. And I think it will be.

Well Sherlock, it's relevant for those who seem to think I'm targetting Pedersen due to some sort of preconceived notion he is a spud.

Jog on x

Wasn't having a go at your defence of Pedersen, because I agree. It's the self-justification/self-congratulation I was commenting on. I'll jog on now.

Your thoughts on Pederson?

I thought he was ok in 2013. If you ignore the head ducking incident of round 1, he was a decent servant for us in 2013. Provided good depth and had no dramas getting possessions and contested marks in defence. Got some coaches awards votes in the second GWS game. Can take a contested mark either forward in back.

I think Pederson is underated around here and should provide solid depth next year.

Pederson is a terrific example how Roos has brought the best out Low to middle tier players. He could be the next Steven Icke or Anthony Ingerson and provide support for McDonald. Hopefully Garland back soon and under Roos he too will be a significantly improved player...I hope.

Just a thought. Given the clubs losses with Clark and Hogan how do we think Big M Might go up forward swapping around with Chip? I recall the days Biffo went forward frequently and often with great success. While Biff cleared with searing torps with kick outs he also was a dead eye dick drop punting from 40 M out.

Final comment. Great to see Viney just ripping the opposition apart. lets hope Jimmy T can do the same.

"demonland"...has a variety of opinions but mostly pretty conservative.

Ok, a current example.

1st quarter, about 3min to play.

Crows player marks and Pedersen stands the mark as the player backpedals.

JKH about 5-10m from Pedo on one side of him, another crows player runs past Pedo unmarked about the same distance away on the other side of him.

JKH motions and tells Pedo to follow the running player, and JKH will come over to man the mark, a standard defensive switch.

Pedo ignores JKH.

JKH has to run around Pedo and make up 15-20m on the running crows player.

It's little things, but it happens.

I hope it is ironed out of his game, because he's either not very smart, or he's not very team-oriented.

Working hard both ways is great, but it doesn't mean he always works hard for his teammates.

I see an element of self-preservation is his "playing personality" rather than a whatever-it-takes-to-get-the-win mentality.

great example, ive seen many times at all clubs.

ive also seen it at local level, some players just dont follow the game in that respect, all good blokes but it doesnt come natural to them.i dont have a problem with pedders because he supplies other things to the team.

but that example can be shown mant times over with every club in the league.

i can also show you examples of other players in the league including our team that make fundamental mistakes.

every player has a downside, and needs to repair some aspects of thier game.

maybe you have a needle against this bloke.

same as i have one against JW.

Really liked his guts backing into that marking contest in the 2nd qtr (??) to cut off an Adelaide attack. Got crunched big time and then fronted up to contest a stoppage bounce. That took a lot of courage and got a fair bit of praise from his team mates. Hope he keeps up the improvement.

Oh right, so he's making sure the players doesn't play on and doesn't hear the call from JKH above the 40000 baying in the crowd, do you actually watch to enjoy the footy...or never made a mistake in your life.......

Nope, plenty.

It's just a trend I've noticed in his play.

No need to take it personally.

Yes its a fair point and maybe when Roos is saying they are coaching at 80%, its some of these things they may leave for now so they can teach blokes like Pederson, running patterns, blocking, where to position, all the big basics they don't know how to do.

It's a feather in Roos cap this bloke has improved when almost everyone on demonland had written him off completely.

He certainly seems very willing to take on whatever is asked of him. None of this "that ain't my role" stuff.

For his size his ruck competitiveness is a revelation.

Well done Cam.

Definitely the best game by Cam.

I now have a lot of confidence that those stupid errors won't raise their heads again.

He does have that hard body we have been after.

I really hope his past two weeks suggests the penny has fallen.

Keep up the good work Cam.

again?

when the team is on the rocks & a new player comes in to the club that no supporter wanted, & the players were all unhappy & unfocused, how then does a new player get the confidence & support to automatically feel secure enough, to be able to 'focus' to the level of backing into oncoming packs.

He stopped the ball on that occasion, even if he went one handed at it.

most here had transferred they're anger they felt over the two 2012/13 seasons, onto Pederson. last year was like a witchhunt. the guy had no chance... now he is showing his true abilities, under a new footy dept, with a united footy list, & club.

he always deserved more respect, than the muck he copped last year.

Good on him. Seems pretty simple though.

Give a physically strong and athletic footballer the structure, instruction, feedback and confidence he requires and look out. The boy has many skills capable of performing at AFL level. Is he any better or worse than LRT or Ted Richards! I wouldn't have thought so, and they both looked good with a premiership medal hanging off them.

Roos is clearly one of a small group, maybe 4-5 "elite" coaches who are capable of achieving greatness. He will prove a lot more than Pedo over the coming years. Right now I bet the Tigers wish they had one of the 4-5 not one of the mainstream capable.

Things are looking up, now we see the boys play with confidence, look out Bulldogs.

Calm down. Every time someone has some constructive criticism, it isn't necessary for the white knight to ride in. M was merely pointing out his observations, which he was well within his right to do, and you had to come in and make it personal. Get off the high horse and accept that our players can improve aspects of their game. Further, we the supporters, are quite right to observe these trends and demand improvement. No one is saying improvement is impossible, just that for the team to improve past second last, we need to, as M put it, 'iron out' these flaws in our game.

It does, and about Matt Jones, Rohan Bail, Dean Terlich. The reality is that most reckon they're stopgap players at best, when in fact they've all held their spots with aplomb so far this season.

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
