I might have to look into upgrading my car now...

I'm gunna hold off buying a new car for a little while, buy some AHG shares with the few dollars I currently own, wait for the share value to skyrocket on the back of the MFC sponsorship and buy a new car with the dividends.

Think bigger than just individuals, sue.

There are large companies forking out big dollars to organisations like AHG to deliver and maintain a total fleet service. The company I work for for instance has hundreds of vehicles purchased and leased through AHG.

But are large companies influenced by mass marketing?

I'm always bemused when Lockheed and other arms manufacturers take out enormous full-page ads in the papers extolling their fighter jets.

Good luck to AHG regardless of my own marketing ignorance.

Great news.

But I'm a bit confused about who AHG is targeting. Does anyone buy a car by looking for a dealer who happens to be a member of their group? Don't most people look at a few models and go to the nearest appropriate dealers and see who gives the best deal? Also, customers will see the finance business through the dealers. Would they go to a dealer because they specifically want AHG finance?

So what exactly is AHG mass-marketing? Are they planning to push the centralised service-booking service perhaps?

I'm sure they know or they wouldn't be throwing money our way. Any marketing-gurus like to explain?

I agree, from their point of view it seems like a strange decision to sponsor an AFL team but I'm not complaining!

On reflection it's probably as much about networking from a B2B perspective as it is exposing a brand.

We always like to think we have a comparative advantage in terms of networking. Other teams have more members to bulk mail, more exposure on TV, etc.

But getting a companies bigwigs to talk to other bigwigs about projects, investment, etc is something we like to think we are very good at.

There is an elite arrogance there for sure, but probably quite a bit of truth to it.

There are some connected Melbourne supporters...

As McQeen said, they are after large company fleets as well and if they are looking to network their business in Victoria who better than us to do it through. We will give them access to the top end of town through functions and other match day events.

Actually, if you look at the MFC's image of Jones in the new sponsor gear, the collar remains, but the stars are gone.

I think it is a digitally altered picture of last years jumper at last years photo shoot.

Don't think it is the jumper, it would not be close to being finished yet.

On twitter there is a photo of Clark, Howe Grimes and Trengove in the new gear. They have the NT tourism on the shorts the stars and collars are gone, looks a bit different

Also listed ASX companies like to increase their profile to attract investors and hopefully get their share price up.

Think this is super important. It's a great move for AHG, AFL is a country wide game that will promote their company throughout all states. Big businesses are likely to see stability in them and if you're a big business with a large fleet you'd be stupid to not go through the enormous financially viable AHG, than a small individual dealer. This is more about exposure than sales, as it would be for a company like Fujitsu, but it's a huge win for MFC regardless.

good catch......but i don't know how you can say stars are gone with only frontal pics (but i'm sure they are)

Hi Sue,

On the AHG website a large portion of the website is made up of car sales, service, parts & care through an online interface. I'd say that they are looking to build their online profile & sales by targeting the everyday consumer through online sales/bookings as well as just looking to build the overall profile/brand of their business.

    Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze.     With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals.
