WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BERNIE VINCE

Ted Lasso

Recommended Posts

Two years of very good trading, hiring and drafting

Viney at pick 26 (steal)

Toumpass (went one place later than expected)

Hogan (mini draft)

Dawes (solid player)

M Jones (impressive first season)

Terlich(impressive first season)

Tyson (a good get whilst keeping a first round pick)

Minchie (highly rated by many clubs)

Vince (better than Sylvia)

Pick 9 (assurance for the future)

Peter Jackson (thank you AFL)

Paul Roos (thank you PJ)

Stone (credentialed and proven assistant Improving most of the above)

That's a turn around on 10 players in the right hands

Only one we might regret is overlooking Wines. Love the Toump and reckon he's all class but Wines was incredible this season.

The rest is spot on!

Toumpass will be fine and a better footballer than Wines. We now have some genuine inside midfielders to compliment him and he will have a full pre season. His hips should be fine too. Wines had a very good midfield backing him. dimitri didn't

Our midfield is now starting to look much more talent laden and a lot less raw:

Jones, Cross, Vince, Viney, Toumpas, Tyson, Trengove, Pick 9 etc...

That is a hell of a lot better than this year.

Where did you pull Cross from? Far from signed, sealed and delivered to the club.

Agree with your sentiments though.

That's starting go look pretty damn good.

There must be a few starting to quiver in their boots.

Blease, Watts, McKenzie, Matt Jones, Evans, Barry, Nicholson, Tapsott, Bail

OMG - I though we may be able to get through one thread without the Wines (one of many mids in a more mature successful team) vs Toumpass (opposite of all those club traits) debate - but, oh no, we couldn't.

Or getting through it without someone spelling his name incorrectly. Toumpas. Is it so hard?

Pedantic at its worst. How can a poster be upset today after some good progress from the club. What's the saying? Small things, and small minds!

I'm as pumped as anyone about today. Small minds are those that can't spell the names of their own players correctly. It isn't hard but this isn't the time or the thread for it, so because you seem upset, I'll move on.

you betcha. Vince actually won a b&f in a better team than sylvia's 5th place in a poor team

I don't think Vince has the explosive power of Sylvia - Unfortunately Col only produced this about twice a season. Further, I suspect Vince has more brainpower.

All up. Not a bad swap.

Wow. Nothing was reported on the news and it wasnt until I checked twitter I saw it. Sorry Colin who? Bernie is a great replacement for him and I reckon he will give us more in in his first season with us than Col ever did.

And Mark Robinson has the hide to write an article in todays sun saying we have lost momentum since we got roos. Well getting dom tyson and berie vince is a pretty good day. Good work Todd and co

On a only-very-loosely-related note, I wonder where the OP (D26) has gone? He's spent the last 6 months being close to the site's most prolific poster, but has had no account activity at all since October 3. That includes logins, 'lurking' etc. Bizarre.

So what picks do the MFC now hold given Vic, Bernie and Tyson are recruited?

9, 40, 56 ish.

Potentially we will look to do deals in this last week moving those later 2 picks forward or getting another one in the top 50ish by trading out players who haven't been getting a kick but might hold a little interest from other clubs (ie, Blease, Strauss, Tapscott).

    REDLEG PRIDE by Meggs

Hump day mid-week footy at the Redlegs home ground is a great opportunity to build on our recent improved competitiveness playing in the red and blue.   The jumper has a few other colours this week with the rainbow Pride flag flying this round to celebrate people from all walks of life coming together, being accepted. AFLW has been a benchmark when it comes to inclusivity and a safe workplace.  The team will run out in a specially designed guernsey for this game and also the following week

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm
