It amounts to trading Sylvia for Vince, no matter where the pick falls now. At worst it is a break even, for me it is a massive win. Come on, hurry up and be official already.

Bernie Vince for Col....Bernie won the B & F in 2011...28y/o 3 good years maybe 4 in him

Would be a solid deal imo, regardless of what Denham said this morning.

Sylvia compo headed Crows' way Melbourne has agreed to trade the compensation pick it received for losing free agent Colin Sylvia to Adelaide in exchange for midfielder Bernie Vince, says The Advertiser. The pick is expected to fall at the start of the second round of the NAB AFL Draft, perhaps immediately after the Demons pick No. 20. If the pick is lower than 25, the Crows will, reportedly, accept the trade.

I believe based on the above the DEAL is done Regardless

Welcome Bernie Vince to the MFC :)

And presumably if greater than pick 25, crows won't be in it.

then they have a problem. Vince presumably doesn't want GWS. And next year he is a free agent, and can walk.

We might yet get him for a 30s pick.

Adelaide list manager (name alludes me) just said on trade radio that its pretty much guaranteed that Vince will be traded, both parties have come to terms with it, said that if not us there is others interested.

Josh Mahoney pretty much confirmed if we get the pick that satisfies Adelaide then we get Vince.

only thing is the word IF. Given last years Net result of zero draft picks for Moloney and Rivers out with Byrnes etc in, Im not confident.

What is its a late second rounder, thrid rounder ?

According to Jon Ralph on twitter we are unlikely to get the pick after our second pick and instead get the pick after our 3rd. Sounds like a rort to me if the saints get a pick after their second for Dal Santo

According to me Jon Ralph is another goose that gets paid to be constantly wrong.

Haha yep. But journo's have been consistently right when it comes to Melbourne getting screwed of late. Time for that to change

Very happy we got something decent (pick 23) to seal the deal with the Crows to get Bernie Vince

Our midfeild is actually starting to look alot more competitive now

Bernie Vince for Col Sylvia, we've definitely come out ahead IMO.

If we manage to land Cross (still on the market?) as well then we will have achieved almost a complete midfield transplant. Very pleased with the trade period.

Hawks CEO Stewart Fox: "We believe it is inequitable that compensation is linked to ladder position". I'm sorry, but what a sickening human being. The Hawks front office has been a disgrace in regards to pushing the disequalisation agenda since becoming good again after a drought of irrelevance from 1992-2006. Yes, they've come out of free agency with the worst compensation scenarios the past two years, but if they can't see the bigger picture of the necessity of compensation being linked to ladder position to help lessen the effect of higher-finishing clubs picking the wings off cellar-dwellers year after year, then they're either dumb or incredibly selfish with scant regard for the future good of the competition. And I doubt they got where they are by being dumb.

Anyway, with that off my chest, it's a good and fair result for the MFC!

You know what, it's fair... Which surprises everyone just as much.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
