Jack Watts - More Discussion (for those who haven't had enough)

Unless Jack wants to put himself at the mercy of the draft the MFC can choose whether we agree to a trade. This is good advertising to get the best trade and a renewed board and FD could entice him to stay.

He's had a pretty tough run since we drafted him and looks like he needs a fresh start.

If Watts were to go and I say if I would be more filthy then when Scully left. I get why Scully left. If Watts is waiting for a coach to turn him into a good player with a pair dangling between his legs he will forever wait. It's up to YOU Jack. You have more talent and natural skill sets then Nathan Jones but you will never be anywhere near Jones as a player with this attitude.

He's always found it tough to really apply himself mentally and find that drive to be the best, but being at Melbourne for all these years has really amplified that weakness he had when he first came to the club. No hunger. No drive. No heart.

His attitude toward footy and the club in general is translated directly on field.

The guy plays with Zero intensity.

I believed that with the right coaches and environment, he'd be able to change but it doesn't even look like he has the desire to want to change.

As a passionate member of the MFC, I feel incredibly embarrassed, disheartened and frustrated after hearing Jack speak like that.

It did not sound good when he said he wanted to WEIGH up all options but because Newman loves the sound of his own voice we missed the end of the sentence after Watts said he loves the club and the players.

He talked about how confident Peter Jackson makes him feel and then he said "I am pretty confident..." and that [censored] interrupted him and he did not complete the sentence.

Maybe he was about to say he was pretty confident he'd stay, but we'll never know.

Those who question why the club let him on are spot on, however. No good was ever coming to come of it unless he had already signed. Serious lapse of judgement by the publicity department.

Well said. He may well want to go but surely you speak like that behind closed doors, not on TV when your club is on its knees.

Could not believe Watts tonight. Said something along the lines of "We need to start winning...we said three years ago we were on the way up so I need to be sure we're headed in the right direction".

Jack, you typify the problem with our playing list. All the talent in the world but happy enough just to be an afl player.

Made me sick Watts lapping up his little cheer squad in the audience and then bemoaning how the list aren't coming on.

See you Wattsy.

If Watts goes we will have to start turning on Trengove for taking his time to develop into an elite player.

I'm disappointed but didn't expect better really. If he had an ounce of leadership he would have stood up this year to lead instead of waiting for someone else to do it. He would have come out tonight and stood by the club and promoted it publicly. He seems to be too immature to realise while in the media he is representing not only himself but the club.

If he leaves we better play hard ball with the trade. I'll be sad to see him leave because he could be anything, but if he wants out we should not hesitate in using him to try and get another young player.

Watts and our 2nd pick for Taylor Adams or Swallow? I'd take it.

Wow he didnt really fill u with confidence did he? Basically said it was his manager that said it depends on who is coach and Jack didnt say that. Said there are a few things to weigh up and wants to play finals. Sam said well the only way melbourne can go is up. But Jack if you actually play well thats the only way we will make the finals.

Said Pj has been good and he fills you with hope. Also did last nights FH dinner.

But I thought JB summed it up when he introduced brock he said a player that has had a great season welcome Brock, when introducing Jack he said the number 1 draft pick and a good looking boy Jack Watts.

I am with Watts that Melbourne was meant to be on the up 3 years ago. Problem I think he has is that he doesn't realize that he was meant to be one if tge guys to lead that transition.

I noted this attitude also.

Some acknowledgement of personal responsibility as a player would have been appropriate.

Anyhow I'm interested now in what we can get and what that player will bring to the club.

I couldn't get TFS even had I wanted to see it. (BTW, was it on early tonight? Now only 915 and it seems all done and dusted.)

Does anyone have a link or transcript?

I might make an offer just for the Kaspersky logos. But please cut out the numbers. Double 4's very unlucky as the Chinese say. Edited by america de cali

How about players start to take ownership on where the club is at, jack watts tonight sums up our club, we have to many players blaming everybody and not themselves. Jack you think you are better then you are, if you and your first round draft pick mates play to your best each week we would be a better side.

I was looking forward to watching jack tonight and just like your performance each week you are disappointing

The double 4 could impact our ability to land that big sponsor from China...oh who am i kidding...the only sponsor from China we could possibly land is the bloke that runs the Dim Sim stand @ the South Melbourne Market.

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the
