Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>

So are the players not in the clear anymore?

I doubt it. I get the feeling that the final ASADA report will be DYNAMITE. It's then and only then that any charges against the players will be laid.

My reading of WADA's ruling on AOD-9604 makes it clear that the conclusion reached by Garnham and Whateley on the supplement just doesn't make sense.

I hope he comes up with a little more clarity on tonight's programme as otherwise his credibility will be completely shot as far as I'm concerned.

AFL statement on status of AOD-9604

And this is what ASADA says:

ASADA reiterates that at no point has it advised any party that AOD-9604 was permitted in sport, and our advice to the sporting community has always been consistent with WADA.

So my question to Garnham, Whateley et al is this:

Where is the proof that prior to or at any time during which the supplements programme was in place that someone from Essendon contacted ASADA and obtained an unequivocal statement in writing that it was permissible for AOD-9604 to be injected into its players?

If you wanted to be really smart you would said he has not charged with any crime. And that would have been right. But you decide to be petty and fantasise the facts about guilt.

You know as much as I do ( possibly less) on whether or not Danks is actually guilty of anything. There is no doubt he like Essendon has been reckless and has contributed to the Essendon saga but as to guilt we can only guess. And you have done no more than that.

When it comes to petty you are the most putrid poster on this site.

Essendon is attacking the AFL for sitting on the AOD thing for 6 months. One can equally ask, why hasn't Garnham said anything until now? What exactly is the timeline of his AFL & Essendon employment status?

Hird has nothing to lose. To admit fault is to concede his place in AFL history as the Games biggest cheat. His record as a player will mean nothing. The scary thing is that he appears to be willing to destroy the club he supposedly loves in the process. Just as Lance Armstrong was willing to bring cycling to its knees so is Hird. His delusional ego is willing to take the game to the brink in a bid to save his reputation. High stakes indeed.

i agree OF Hird is going to be the last man standing.

Matt Finnis just teed off in a big way.

Is that an [censored] I see before me????

That report is an atomic bomb on Ess. WTF were they thinking in challenging this?

"we'll be fine when the truth comes out" J Hird

Really James??

What's that flushing sound?? Its your reputation going down the toilet. Adios.

Let's hope we can simply add the Bates/Dank drama to the Terrible Governance chapter of our recent history and nothing more...

When is that trainwreck coming? Anyone know?

Thankfully, despite poor governance, we didn't decide to fight the AFL and took our medicine.

Essendon are on a hiding to nothing at the moment, and I fail to see how fighting against them will help their cause, especially since the charges are being laid by the AFL.

You may well ask why Essendon sat on this for longer and did not come clean until the ACC report and a certain blonde tanned (?) sportsman took full responsibility for the FD. And it's not Shane Warne we are talking about.

Nice work on the medicine but MFC have not taken any. Our prescription is likely to come when Essendon's case as the final report issued.

And it's not the AFL they are fighting, it's ASADA.

The same goes for Essendon

With ASADA and WADA in the background I don't think the AFL could offer Hird & co a compromise deal along the lines of 'not guilty but we'll fine you anyway etc. Once that penny dropped at Windy Pill, they decided they'd rather tarnish the AFL further than fall on their swords.

If the Essendon players that received injections are banned for two years then do people reckon the AFL will let them draft replacement players or would we just have a 17 team league with byes every week?

If so, will cost the AFL a fair bit from lost revenue.

Just had a peek at BomberBlitz for a chuckle. Deny, deny, deny. I think I'll watch Footy Classified tonight and simultaneously read the delusional comments on BomberBlitz. As Maxwell Smart would say," And loving it"

There's a point that nobody has brought up about Essendon's claim that Dean Wallis was responsible for keeping records of the injections. Spat my coffee out reading that.

Dank said in an interview to the 7:30 Report that 'all the injections were logged on the Essendon intranet'. Those records have disappeared. I don't know how much credence can be given to that statement, because in the same interview Dank said that the only injections were Vitamin B and C.

It's very convenient to have all records missing, or what is being labelled as 'poor governance'. "Tony I'll choose incompetent over shady"

Last February Hard Drives would have been erased in an afternoon if Essendrug had any sense. Back ups, the lot.

One of the big problems with Data storage.

It can be wiped so easily.

Just depends on how many back up drives there were.

That letter by Bruce Reid acknowledges that he in fact knew what was going on - just that he didn't like it.

But, he was the doctor and that regime did in fact take place at a club where he was head doctor.

The AFL is pointing the finger at Hird and CO... Hird and Co are pointing the fingers at Dank and Robinson.

If Bruce Reid had concerns and James Hird had imput into this letter, then why didn't they stop what was happening?

If Thompson wanted injections to stop - then why didn't he tell Hird, etc..

A lot of so called letters and meeting covering the backsides of certain people.

This says to me, this was very well thought out by Hird and Co, they knew the consequences and planned for this day.

It's unfair to blame the players. So the best punishment wold be that in 2014 the Essendon players play for the MFC and vice versa.

A quick comparison of the HUN and AGE websites makes for interesting reading. Another fascinating insight into the deplorable standards of our footy media and an example of how journalists continue to write with a clear agenda having long ago abandoned the simple yet ethical, facts first approach. How can two different papers offer such a different commentary?

:-) I think you could take on advisory role at Essendon.

Well after doing the erasing, is that what the Ziggy report was about. To see how their world would look from the outside.

Maybe they thought that the lack of governance wouldn't have been looked upon so unfavourably. Think about it, if you're Vincent Vega, do want to be covered in blood or look like a dork?

Id love to know the side effects hird had when he injected himself.

But there is a special edition of FC tonight at 9:30 so that could be interesting

The side effects include a massive dose of egotitius that never goes away. Poor fella!

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
