After Jobe Watson has served his ban we may think about a straight swap.

Private school silver spoon cheat media darling for Private school underachiever whipping boy .

No , no, and no.

I am fairly confident he will re-sign fairly soon, i think the club would be well aware of how important his is to us, how popular he is with the young fans and his huge upside so i am sure they will offer him a deal accordingly,

Sylvia i am not so confident about

Carlton want watts.... They will be pushing this through every media sources they can find... It wouldn't surprise me if they were behind this thread.... Oh and when it comes to crunch time they will want him for nothing....

Carlton..... Watts is a required player here.... If you want him, your going to have to pay!

These potential trade ideas for watts and player x or pick y are just crazy. There is a common theme across all sports not to trade one dollar (not that he is there yet) for two fifty cent pieces. Tom Bell who? Yarran another outside player sheesh.???!!!!

Yes my friend I am on the CFC Payroll.....

The point of this thread was to see what people think is fair if WE did trade him, not if we should.

We all know we have allot of KPF Dawes, Clark, Hogan, Fitz, Gawn. I was just throwing the possibility out there if he was on the trade table what could we get. I think 85% of Demon fans on here want to keep him, but saying he is a required player when we don't even have a senior coach at the moment is untrue. But yes I am also hearing the rumours Carlton are very keen for a forward line of Henderson and Watts. Once again what would you take from the Blues if Watts decided he wanted to play at Visy.

Ok if the rumour was to be true & watts wanted out & MM wanted him... then Lachie Henderson plus their 2nd Rnd pick for Watts + Dunn.

Now you spoilt it, you want to keep Hendo, so 'No Deal'.

Trade both Watts and Barassi for another fifty years of obscurity, but only on the condition that Norm Smith rises from his grave and says that both boys have given their club good service.

How about NO.

NO Trade!

Jack Watts is a great player and will be a better player with more games under his belt.

He is a swingman.(Plays back/Fwd) and kicks gun barrel straight generally!

He has excellent skills.

He speaks the media well.

He also knows that if we land a couple more mids we will be on the up.....We all know this.

Can someone please tell me who MFC has traded in, who has been a star???Beside Mitch Clark(and the jury is out and injuries)I cannot think of anyone off the top of my head...I don't know why everyone is besotted with trades?????

Maybe because we haven't developed our own star for more than 30 years...

But there is no way we should be trading Watts. He is on the way to being a great player, as frustrating as the journey has been for him and us. The club should be doing everything and more to sign him up as soon as possible because he is one of our most important players going forwards.

Sign the dotted lines Jack!

I really hope he signs with us soon. I believe by the end of next season he will be in the top 50 players on that rankings thing, and then he year after top 10. There more conifdence he gets in his body and capabilities the more he will take games by the scruff of the neck and drag the team over the line. (With Viney helping of course).

Can't think of anyone Carlton would give up that I would trade Watts for.

It still surprises me that there isnt more love for good ol Wattsy.

As another ( others) have already mentioned its been a jittery journey to date but hes finally getting it all to fall into place.

I think he is often unfairly maligned. Where he plays isnt really his choice. I think he's been f'd around by the club regarding role from breakfast to tea, but through all this in the main , hes tried valiantly.

Unlike some others he doesnt leave much on the ground. He mightnt shine like a star yet but he would definitely be on a list of only about 8 that I would consider must keeps.

Anotherh preseason, another coach and regime might just be the recipe for his eventual elevation into the A's

and people want to get rid of him.... wtf.. Must be the TGIAGOTOSOTF syndrome.

He's playing some good football now, lets be honest we haven't had much of that from him. I want to see him continue playing good football in Red and blue.

Re-sign Watts, repay our patience.

If I was Jack I'd leave.

He still plays his best footy without doing any hard stuff as a third tall forward who may be able to get up into the midfield and float around or even be a decent undersized second ruck in the right side.

With Clark, Dawes, Hogan, Fitzpatrick and Howe all more than capable of playing similar positions I'd be considering my future.

Because if I was the incoming Melbourne coach next year the first thing I'd do to Watts would be Mark Neeld 2.0 and get him to toughen up and play off half back until he shows me he can consistently win one on one battles and play well under pressure as backman must do. Because his ability to read play and use the ball with beautiful foot skills is still so adeptly suited to being behind the play. Or if he showed he was up to it I'd release him to a wing in a Goddard style role. But I wouldn't take out a decent key forward prospect like Hogan or Fitzpatrick to gift Watts games as a floating third tall when the team has plenty of other roles to fill and Jack has the talents to fill them.

So as I said if I was Jack I'd ask for a trade and get a fresh start. If I was the club though I wouldn't accept anything less than a ready to go decent midfielder and if that players talents aren't worthy of a high second pick I'd say no thanks.

I think you are off the mark here 'Master', Craig is getting the best out of Jack now and I expect that to continue. He is now involved as a part of the team and is playing some time mid and in the ruck which I think is a great move from Craig.

Of the forwards you've named only Hogan and Clark if fit are or maybe capable of filling the postions that Watts can and Hogan is yet to play a game.

Carlton can't afford both Daisy and Jack. And according to player managers scuttlebut Daisy is off to be with father figure Micky.

You can only have 1 of Clark or Fitzy in the team at once and only 2 of Hogan, Dawes and Watts. To me Jack will undeniably asked to play a lot of other positions including midfield and half back because they will still be a weakness. I'm not saying we don't want Watts or Craig can't make Watts into a very good player. I'm just thinking if I was impartial and advising Watts my advice would be not only would he get a fresh start somewhere else he'd also probably get better treatment.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
