Yeah Colin's plans have changed a lot in the last month as it's no longer a sinking ship that end of contract players have thought about jumping off.

Just play some good footy Col.

Neeld................... make no mistake..... the worst coach in the history of the game.

Craigs performance has been good, but he is made to look better than he is because Neeld was that bad.

Good news.

Its amazing timing with Watts and Sylvia stating their commitment after a certain person was moved on.

Col Syliva was never gonna leave unless the Club wants him to, get over it, he loves the Club, Neeld was playing him and playing him in the midfield, he had no issues with him, this crap is really wearing thin, just be glad if he does stay

Nice to c a couple of players coming out and now saying they WANT to stay.

What a turnaround this is from a month ago.

There seems to be a very good feeling around our club again.

It's been a while.

Go Dees

Can we stop with this comments, and just put it in the past. GET OVER IT people. It's done. The club has dealt with it, lets move on.

I hope he stays.

If he has a standout season and a match winning grand final game for us one day, I don't care how many more teasers he gives us.

He will be valuable when we are up and running.

Give us Roos and some good mids through FA and the draft. Give us 3 years and the 'G' will be a sea of red and blue again.

What a beautiful thought.

I take a different view - he just wasn't ready.

Had a few other lessons he needed to learn before taking on the role.

Would have benefitted from another 5 years or more as an assistant.

I think he was capable in regards to some aspects of coaching.

Ummm I'm guessing this has come from a press conference which he has fronted because he plays his 150th this week. Watts only commented on his contract when asked at a post game press conference.

I think people are reading too much into the timing of these things. Just as some might say it's only coming out because Neeld is gone, it could equally be said that these messages are only just coming out because these players are actually being asked the questions by journo's in a press conference.

It is a nice dream Steve. After more than a decade of injury, interesting off-field choices and form teases Colin throws aside the maligned tag with a huge game in a grand final

He should then self combust in a blinding light on the victory podium. Beautiful

There may be little value in him leaving, especially if we want to get involved in signing FAs ourselves...

Yay, I guess.

Come on pm in the words of John McEnroe you can't be serious. If Neeld was still at the club do you honestly believe that Syliva would have declared he wants to stay at the dees? My guess is that he would would have given the wait and see response.

And by the by for those who argued Neeld should be given until the end of year (and IIRC you were one of them PM) one only need to look at the improved spirit of the team and the fact that 26, 000 people went to the G on the weekend as proof of why it is was so important he go. If he was still at the helm they would have struggled to get 20, 000 there so in that game alone we have probably made $100k more than we would have.

I'm going to see the dees this weekend and i can tell you there is no way i would have even thought about if Neeld was still the coach such was the lack of spirit amongst players and fans.

It is yay, more for the symbolism of it more than anything. I'd have thought Sylvia was one of the most at risk players and most likely to leave if the wider playing group thought they were wasting their time here. I'm happy to hear this.

Pretty sad that people cant see this is a great piece of news, for a number of reasons as you stated.

Not to mention I am salivating at the prospect of seeing him play under a real coach and after a real preseason.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
