Brisbane are likely to end with picks 7, 22 + 34 (Polec), 28 (Yeo), 33 (Docherty) and probably 25 (Longer). Not sure what they can do with them though. I would've thought they could trade some of them in pick down grades for players on one or two year deals.

If so, either they're leaving it very late, or they have plans that haven't been caught wind of in the media yet.

I'm inclined to go with the former. Brisbane of 2013 has exhibited management decisions rivalling Melbourne of 2007-2013, which is to say, deplorable.

Sort of like how Melbourne turned Pick 5 into Brock McLean, Brock McLean into Pick 11, Pick 11 into Jordan Gysberts, Jordan Gysberts into Cam Pedersen (with a downgrade inpicks in North's favour), with Pedersen clogging our list for 3 years. Would love to go through other trading and drafting flows and see if any club can top that.

it is a stinker

pick4 straight to nothing goes close

There's an entire chapter's worth of material there for 'Drafting for Dummies'.

Brisbane are going to be an absolute shambles next season with these trades and the outgoing senior players like Brown and Black.

Another win for us I hope!

Last time we played Brisbane they beat us up in Darwin pretty comfortably. Only Docherty and Yeo played that day. Longer, Karnezis, Polec and Black were all in the stands that day.

We gave the lions pick 12 which they used for Docherty, Lions fans would be furious

Well Lucas Cook just gave up footy altogether but us supporters get over these things.

Is the TA mentioned above coming from GWS to us actually tony Armstrong from the swans?

I should hope not.

lightbulb moment. I couldn't care less, never seen him play, but love your left-wing thought.

Looks as though GWS will only use 3 picks in the draft. Should we give them pick 9 for picks 14 and 29? Slip 5 places in first round but greatly improve on our other pick?

No, no we shouldn't.

At 9 we're in a position to pick up a very good mid.

The answer is NO. The depth is good with some exciting players still likely be there at #9 but much less so at #14 (or #29). I like our trades to date and we will only embellish things with a gun player at #9. Go Dees!

I cant see that happening. The shrewdnes of the pick 2 deal was we got a ready made and a good >10 pick. To give that up to better our 'second' pick undoes all of that.

One of two gws players still being shopped around was Sam Darley who is now set to traded to the dogs. Apparently one more still open to a trade according to their manager but no names mentioned.

Clubs get desperate today.. Last day to clear space and or non required players. I hope we go hard at say a Buntine today with pick 53. Chances are they'll say no, but add some doubt about him coming home next year regardless and see what we can do. Come on Josh one more!!

Understand that - just seems crazy that GWS will have #29 and likley not use it.

Per Arrow's post - How good is Buntine? Former #5 pick. Will be third year next season. I dont know all that much about him.

Assuming #53 wouldnt get the deal done - cant imagine it would, would we entertain giving #9 to GWS for #14 plus #29 and Buntine?

GWS effectively give up Buntine and upgrade from #14 to #9 (if they are only using three selections this draft)

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
