Jack Watts getting massive interest from adelaide crows. Geelong also intrested in Watts but crows heavily into him. As are Carlton.

Taylor Adams high on Melbournes list but is apparently not intrested in coming to us.

Collingwood showing strong interest in Sylvia.

Our recruiters will be targeting midfielders and small forwards in the national draft.

Wont be any moneyball theme this year..

Craig went to Adelaide early last week for the promotion of the last game at AAMI. Could he have been offered a player development gig at the Crows and is taking Jack Watts with him???

I trust we will be aggressive this trade period but this is our problem. We are not a place players want to come to.

Not all players can be lured by money, good coffee, great opportunities for lane way photography or good connections to assist in a post-football law career.

Basically what we all know and that it will be only be experience coach appointed. Nothing on Roos or Eade. Oh and Gary Ayres has been contacted.

Yep we arent an attractive clube. And this is why we are chasing Roos. The club believe not only is he a good coach but he has that presence and charisma to attract players to our club. If we do get a priority pick expect that to be put on the table.

Wrong.

Once again.

Really? Lake was traded. 100% positive on that. Surely he was eligible for free agency?

In any case. You are wrong. Monfries was a free agent. He was traded because Port did not want to dilute their compensation for Pearce. Look it up if you need. Wikipedia - afl draft 2012.

Not checking.

Couldn't be bothered.

Unrestricted free agents can walk any time they want.

Sylvia is one of those.

Thanks.

You are correct. Lake was traded, as was Monfries. I suspect clubs will trade with low picks or exchange of picks to dilute compensation for players that don't demand much currency. We should have traded Byrnes in with a late pick, as getting him as a free agent ate into our compensation for Moloney and Rivers. Not that we would have got much, but it's something to consider.

Lake was traded. Here's an article so you don't have to bother checking.

You are right though, Unrestricted Free Agents can walk, though clubs may organise trades to dilute compensation if it's an amicable situation.

Went to a pre match function in adelaide before the crows game.. Watts parents were there and i had a chat to his dad about Jack.. we talked a little bit about if jack was going to be at the club next year and he gave me nothing.. but the feeling was that jack was leaving. As i was leaving the function i said 'il see you next year' (with a grin on my face) he simply put his hands in the air and shrugged.. he saw the disappointment on my face from his reaction.. and said hopefully mate. My feeling is jack is as good as gone!

Also with all the speculation about watts going to the crows.. begs the question why would watts parents fly down to adelaide.. to watch a game with the season all but over..

WhAt would he Crows offer for Jack? It won't be draft picks!

Lake wasn't a free agent last year, he would have been in this year's FA pool. Dogs traded him a year out because they were concerned about the level of compensation lake would draw. His manager emphasised this to get the deal done. Monfries must have been an RFA. As stated, by others, Sylvia is unrestricted and can't be traded.

who would come into the deal if we sweeten it further? Part of a package for Sloane?

Dont mind Sam Kerridge. A solid 188cm 87kg midfielder who kicked six goals against North Melbourne. Vic Boy aswell.

He extended his contract this week, so unlikely to leave. Would be nowhere near enough anyway.

Find it strange the Watts parents in a Adelaide function. The Watts to Crows got a mention in the MFC season wrap on the AFL website. Any deal would need to include another club or players.

I don't blame Sylvia if he wants to go, he has 3-4 years left, we will get band 3 for him which will be about pick 20, thats about right. Of the two I hope Sylvia stays, Watts can go as long as we get the right trade.

You sit back and read about 'Oh it would be great to get pick 20 for Sylvia' or 'Oh lets just get what we can for J.Watts'

But the fact of the matter is... We can't afford to lose top 10 players.

If we can barely keep our best players.. so how do you all think we are going to attract other top players??

2024 Player Reviews: #36 Kysaiah Pickett

The Demons’ aggressive small forward who kicks goals and defends the Demons’ ball in the forward arc. When he’s on song, he’s unstoppable but he did blot his copybook with a three week suspension in the final round.
