"I do want to stay," Watts said. "It's a great group of blokes that I've spent the last five years with. Obviously it's been tough, and at the moment, as 'Craigy' says, we're non-competitive, and it's frustrating. But I think the things that are going on behind closed doors, the way we're training, I want to be there for when things turn around. Hopefully that's sooner rather than later."

Watts will stay and he will be a very good player for us, we are headed in the right direction and given another 40 odd games he will be too.

Two years on from now, we will see just how good he is.

I think he will stay as will Sylvia. I really hope we can get a decent coach and I think you will find we will improve drastically. Gotta get this years draft right though. I've got faith though after last years I thought we did very well out of that draft and expect something similar this year.

I am confident that Watts will be true to his word, and I really appreciated Craig's refreshingly honest appraisal of where we are at in his presser.

I've just watched the interview and undoubtedly he is in two minds.

I felt when he was saying "I want to say" and giving his speel it was genuinely honest, he looked the reporter directly in the eyes and said it without any tell tale indications of lies.

Although prior to his response and after it while Craig was talking on the matter his expressions and actions indicated something else. He had a tendency to gulp, licked his lips often and scratch at his face whilst looking away - common signs of lying or concealing something.

Needless to say I sure as hell hope he stays, but I won't get excited until I hear officially he signs. I hope there are no large offers on the table from rivals as this would influence any greedy manager. The best we as fans can do is congratulate him on a good game via social media in the hope he realizes he has support here.

The thought of having Dawes, Clark, Hogan, Howe, Watts and Davey forward next year is the only thing getting me through this year....

I wanted to get rid of him not too long ago but been really happy to see him up forward. Where he plays he best footy, is most confident and we get the most out of his contested mark and effective disposal rate.

He was certainly playing like someone who wants to stay in terms of his body language,

I believe he'll stay, but it's by no means a certainty yet.

I'm confident Watts will stay.

I think we'll improve enough in 2014 for Frawley to stay.

Sylvia, I'm less sure about. If he gets a good offer from a finals-bound team and we don't show improvement in the next 10 weeks, who knows? I want him to say, but I wouldn't be surprised if he found a better deal.

The only other player who worries me contract-wise is Gawn. Once we sign up Gawn and Watts, I'll be happy.

I hope that Watts is now going to played in the forward line permanently for the rest of the season.

But I hope we dont see him just dive forward like he did yesterday. It didnt look great and yes he may have got a little shove but Robbo did that in his career and got a reputation for it.

I just want to see him take marks and kick goals.

Or it could be the behaviour of a 22 year old kid who is uncomfortable in front of a room full of people who aren't addressing him at that point in time. I think you are reading too much into it, which I can understand given the TS drama.

If that was Saint Nick yesterday he would of got a free kick, hell the umpire probably wouldv kicked it for him.

I agree and take your point although I have seen him plenty of times with a media audience. To say one would like to stay as aposed to one will stay are completely different. Based on body language they are my observations and they looked uncharateric, and if I were him I (excluding my passion for the club) I too would have doubts.

I agree, re: language used. I get the feeling though that it may just be in regards to working out the contract.

That being said he is one of my favourites so I am a bit biased...

Haha let's hope mate, let's hope. I'm just waiting for the day he has a blinder, and follows it up with some consistent performances or a great season so he can really stick it up to all those who ever scrutinized or doubted him.

I found it funny that he said "I want to stay" 5 days after Neeld left.

Is this just a coincidence or something more?

I would say it was a case of him being asked the question and him answering it. I haven't actually heard a direct quote regarding his contract prior to this.

Watts has been good in the last couple of weeks, he is actually a forward. Still plenty for him to work on, he really should take Dawes as a role model because although he didn't have a good game yesterday he was the only forward willing to bust his gut hard to chase.

or just that he played well, so gets to sit at the press conference and then someone asks him the question.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
