still struggling with the 2 years factor

Im not.. I was before but he'll be there 3 at least. He hinted at a longer involvement , in another role.. possibly as a Craig type role perhaps.

My wife is out tonight which is a good thing as any bedroom activities would be awkward with Paul Roos on my mind

I also believe he will be head coach for 3 years.. He has a habit of talking down his prospects.. And he sounds sincerely excited by the challenge.

I suppose it depends largely on what happens - if the best case unfolds and we are say, in the top 6 or so at the end of 2016 I suppose he would be likely to 'bat on'

One more piece of uncut, confirmed news.

MFC wanted 5 years, but Paul Roos would not commit. However, Paul Roos verbally said he WILL coach beyond 2 years and beyond 3 years if all is going well. Roos wanted an out should admin, board etc fail to maintain the structure and standards he requires.

This should keep the entire organisation in line.

that was the reading I got as well - all along he has been all about having a stable board/admin so I'd say he wants to see that we can keep our [censored] in order before signing on for half a decade. MFC balls in your court.

If Ling doesn't apply for the senior assistant gig then he shouldn't coach anywhere. Guaranteed head coaching job and learning from the grand master is far too good to refuse.

So, the way I read it is:

Roos to coach the Dees for 3 seasons.

A senior assistant will be appointed soon.

The senior assistant will then by given a set date to take over from Roos.

Correct?

Paul Roos built a culture at the Swans and his legacy remains there to this day. He turned what were previously perceived as ordinary footballers, into ones that played with every piece of talent and raw gut emotion they had. His team played for him, respected, admired and were loyal to him. If he brings just one ounce of that to the MFC and I have no doubt he will and some, I will be very happy.

Understandably, we have been far too negative on here for far too long. Let's just suck this up and back it to the hilt. The flow on affects from this appointment are yet to be witnessed, but I will back it in, the net benefit of the Roos appointment will be substantial and long term.

Get on board.

No more Roos free football for Melbourne FC!!

Great news. He showed a lot of character when he played for Fitzroy, great to have him with our club.

We have Roos, Essendon have Hird coming back in 12 months.

Despite being a troll I am also excited by the prospect of improved culture amongst the players.

It is interesting to contemplate how Roos would be perceived had leaping Leo Barry not taken that mark to win the premiership in 2005. A great copach but no premiership.

"I find I'm so excited, I can barely sit still or hold a thought in my head. I think it's the excitement only a free man can feel, a free man at the start of a long journey whose conclusion is uncertain. I hope we can win games across the border. I hope to see my fellow supporters and proudly shake hands after a great victory. I hope a Premiership is as incredible as it has been in my dreams. I hope."

Paul Roos: "I want Melbourne to be the hardest to play against in the AFL."

He also mentioned a Game Plan, not sure he touched upon Fitness Levels.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
