Craig & Simpson would be great.

Rate Craig highly and so do the players.

Smart operator who has the passion & skills. Think he is coaching well, just need some more polish on field to help out.

I just love how there are so many coaching experts on this site

Having played and coached at VfA and local level......I would have absolutely no idea of how to coach an AFL side, or have the knowhow to be able to select the best coach.......

I think I will leave it to the club and support their decision ....Whoever it may be.

Just replayed on Gameday what Ling said.

Sam Lane asked if Ling had a job lined up with Melbourne.

Ling said he has had an informal chat with us, but no job has been tabled to him.

Other panelists (BT, Darcy, Richo, etc) were quick to jump in, asking if any job had been tabled to his manager.

He point blank ignored the questioning and said they'd just had a coffee.

The comment was made "quite a few coffees by the sounds of things" or something similar, may have actual been "how many coffees?"

My memory is failing me.

That's as good as I can remember it.

Probably will be shown again on the channel 9 footy show soon.

My guess is that Ling is interested, has been lined up by PJ, but, as Ling would be very aware of, it all depends on the head coach and who he wants on his staff.

No CS-style hiring for critical positions without consulting those it will affect.

I think he's been Very popular where he's been in coaching roles,,,, EXCept when playing that Bad Cop routine.

& now we hear he's in a bidding war for his services as a midfield coach, or senior assistant, not 3 months out of the gig.

I think the idea was right but the timing was terrible, after the failed rebuild.

don't be fooled by the facial tick of intensity, its not evil.

I suspect you are right on the money there. People create personas for circumstances and he may have misjudged the room and was the recipient of a poisoned chalice somewhat.

True, I reckon the Lions have already have their man, why would they sack Voss when he was doing a good job and not have an immediate replacement? I do think Roos has already agreed but wanted to give it some time after sacking Voss cos he is man of integrity and didn't want to step into the Lions position on the same day as Voss got sacked.

It will be an interesting month or so coming up Kureemy. If the Lions don't have their man then they're going to have egg, actually scrap that, try the world's biggest omellete on their face.

Some word on 6PR Sports Today this evening in Perth from Brad Hardie that Roos advised Sydney today he would not be coaching the Academy Squad in 2014, anything being discussed in the east this afternoon/evening regarding this

Havent heard anything but then again i have heard brad hardie isnt most switched on bloke upstairs when it comes to spilling rumours..

would be a strange move after ruling out coaching in 2014 maybe its to do with media?

Why? If that's your credentials I'd have every faith in you to select a coach. If you kept the priorities that you knew worked when you played and coached then you'd pick the right guy.

I'm talking about communication skills, focus on what you can control, focus on the fundamentals of footy first. Be a team player, be good at taking responsibility for losses and pumping up players after you win.

It's why I'm happy that our coaching selection panel is headed by PJ who has a focus on experience and David Parkin who won't get side tracked by fancy schemes.

The only other thing I'd be interested in for a senior coach in their understanding of other aspects of modern footy in terms of drafting, fitness, sports science, media responsibility. As you've seen with Essendon these issues can derail you pretty quickly. I'd say Neeld's drafting and media work contributed to his down fall as well.

Best rumour I heard is Sheedy may be going back to Messendon.

Roos will coach somewhere that's for sure. He had said "At the moment" a billion times now. The only problem I have with a succession plan is we cannot guarantee that a coach will last two or three years before getting the chop. So is it is a succession plan or is it having a bloke in place just in case we get smashed every week and fire our coach after one and a half seasons?

Yes, but there is also word that GWS are trying to get him to stay on as "Football Manager" or "Manager of Football Operations" or whatever the latest buzz word is.

cant seem to find the odds but rodney eade has apparently shortened quite abit overnight, for whatever its worth.

I would say Roos is Brisbane bound. Pearce Hanley just signed a 5 year deal and Roos has some strong Irish connections willing to join him in the sunny state...

    TRAINING: Wednesday 19th February 2025

Demonlander The Analyser was the sole Trackwatcher out at Casey Fields today to bring you the following observations from this mornings preseason training session. Training  was at Casey today. It consisted of a match simulation for one half  and then a free choice activity time. Activities included kicking for goal,  aerial , contest work etc. I noticed the following players not in match simulation Jack Viney  running laps and looks fine for round one . I think Kolt looks like he’s im

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
