He'd be an inspired appointment, but I still don't reckon he wants it. For a start, I don't even think he wishes to relocate from Sydney to Melbourne. Apparently he loves living in Sydney.

But, if not, I'd be extremely happy with Choco Williams as our head coach, particularly if Junior McDonald returns to the club as part of the package.

The next coach obviously needs immediate 'player buy in' - and I reckon Roos or Choco/Junior would get that.

Not long ago the "experts" and the "naysayers" were also saying that nobody would want to take the CEO's job and suddenly Peter Jackson emerged with enthusiasm about "taking on the challenge". The same will happen with the coach's job for precisely the same reason. It will be well paid and a challenge that those who are brave enough will dare to take on.

You can relax Jack. Peter Jackson is an AFL appointment who is at MFC for up to 18 months.

It yet to be seen what full time CEO will be available at that time. When Schwab was sacked there were and are a number of substantial detractions to the MFC role. And you would expect that the position would be a far better outlook in 18 months that the crud role Jackson has had to endure where he has had to:

1. Watch the Board implode and the President rightly fall on his sword.

2. Totally revamp a dysfunctional FD including the appointment of a new FD director and dismissal of senior FD personnel.

3. Sack the Coach and re appoint a new Coach.

4. Go cap in hand to the AFL because the Club is $3m under water and can't afford to unwind a number of the appalling decisions made by this Board.

5. Following the termination of the coach address the risk of key players moving to greener pastures.

And these are just the major short term challenges to go with the possible drop off in members and sponsors dollars

The above reasons were why the CEO at MFC was seen as.poisoned chalice by some. Maybe you couldn't see that.

Then tell me if the AFL's backing, removal of members of the board, the admin and the lure of the priority pick might have changed the landscape. I think it is cute to suggest that somehow people of character were always going to carry the day when in truth the AFL has stepped in to run this club.

It's got nothing to do with character, Jack. The features of the club that made it unattractive are being altered by the AFL. Not by the club. Not by us. Those "brave enough" are getting backing. So it isn't bravery, really, is it? And you know all of this.

I guess the more he is asked this the more it stirs the simple minded that he must be interested.

And the wing nuts that claim "every man has his price" seem to forget that we are going cap in hand to the AFL for money.

We can't pay stupid sums for a coach and money alone does not guarantee an outcome.

I think the fact now that PJ is in place, DM stepped down and more board members to follow, are main reasons why these coaches are now considering it. The AFL have stepped in, so they know they'll have their support as well.

We'll present to any aspirant considering as quite the different beast for sure.

PJ has been adamant you get the backrooms sorted and the front game reacts as result. Well cant say thats not happening. There is change by the truck load. When the dust settles from this major reno we'll either have a magnificent palace or a delipidated pig pen. im siding with the former.

The basket-case is disappearing and a bucket ( albeit with holes ftm ) has taken its place. Plugs those holes and we might just carry water.

Only a fool would have even hinted at interest until this transformation took place. And we dont want fools in charge.

Be nice when we make headlines for on field success as opposed off field turmoil. It must come .....one day....surely.

In other words, whilst he's said he's not interested and happy in the media. Money still talks. The AFL recognise the club has a cultural problem, that players and player managers are expressing interest in other clubs. The AFL recognise the club has gone cap in hand with PJ expressing the details of the situation. Drastic measures = drastic action. The AFL has a history of going for the right man to get the job done.

I wouldn't rule Roos out, as you have.

We are the worst side in the comp at playing the game atm....but our list says the opposite....It is a very good list talent wise I believe! And other clubs/supporters know this!

A "great coach" now has the chance to take some bona fide talent and bring the DEMON back!!!!

If we are to succeed in getting Roos to the club we will need to be able to afford to put in the FD that he would want.

I reckon if we can give him the FD he wants it may be the deal breaker. I think he would be more worried about those things than the exact amount he was paid.
