Question has to be asked. Would you all welcome back the idea of the Rev being the coach again? made melboirne a good side to watch, good finals record, took us to a grand final wih a young team and hardly no recources and no money. Was a pretty passionate coach i still remember him flying down the stands against the dogs celebrating like he won a granny lol.

Thoughts?

Coach no, footy dept manager yea.

Same goes for Balme.

Spot on. Not because he's ex-MFC, but because he's done a good job at West Coast and he was always a players coach, which could be a good balance with Neeld.

Who knows, with PJ's new FD structure there might be a perfect role for The Rev as FD manger or similar.

Anyone know his contract status?

We need to look at where Daniher left us when his coaching stint ended and the fact that he's been out of the coaching caper for so long.

Pass.

I actually respect your theory that ND hung around too long Jack. Nine years without a premiership is a long time for anyone to be employed as a coach. I think timing was Neale's best friend at Melbourne. Besides 2007, the only time he could have legitimately been fired was back in 2003 but we didn't have the coin to pay him out. In the other 'down' years, it would have been harder to justify letting him go.

I don't think that Neale left us in any more a dire situation than Rocket Eade left the Dogs or Choco Williams left the Power. When coaches mostly leave clubs (there are cases like Mick Malthouse and Bomber Thompson), it's usually with a declining player list. It's not necessarily a case of Neale leaving a god awful playing list, more a case that the rebuild was completely bungled. There was still a semblance of a spine left when Daniher left the club but that was completely discarded in the name of 'list management'. A lot of the older brigade like Yze, Robbo, White, Whelan, Miller, Junior and Wheatley had limited time left, Yet they were discarded at the first possible opportunity and weren't kept on to help mold and teach the list. They could have also given some of the younger blokes 12 months or more of protection before they had to step up to the big time.

I view Neale as a coach who loaded up for one last reach towards the brass ring and fell short. I find that more admirable than gutting a playing list and achieving nothing of substance in the process of doing so.

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res

    POSTGAME: Rd 13 vs Collingwood

Once again inaccuracy and inefficiency going inside 50 rears it's ugly head as the Demons suffered their second loss on the trot and their fourth loss in five games as they go down to the Pies by 38 points on Kings Birthday at the MCG.

    GAMEDAY: Rd 13 vs Collingwood

It's Game Day and the Demons are once again faced with a classic 8 point game against a traditional rival on King's Birthday at the MCG. A famous victory will see them reclaim a place in the Top 8 whereas a loss will be another blow for their finals credentials.
