Dermot's biggest problem is that he is pretentious. He is basically a bogan who is desperate to sound intellectual about football, but in trying to inflate the language of the game, he uses words which he has no idea about, as well as words which have not yet been invented.

This, and he just over analyses the most basic of things.

"That's crazy good!! Break out the hundreds and thousands!! It's party time!!!"

Dwayne gets my vote for biggest [censored]. One horse race really.

Yeah, I like Derm. Unlike most "experts", this guy actually knows what he's talking about.

And yes, he's arrogant, but he knows that, and is prepared to take the [censored] out of himself, which I find refreshing.

Has been a while since I've watched Getaway. Didn't know he was still on it... Glad to hear he knows his stuff.

Im watching league teams on fox footy atm and this guys attitude and general persona is just ridiculous.

He is a smug [censored] who loves to also sink the boots into the dees, has picked us for the wooden spoon.

Pointless thread I know but does anyone agree or am I just taking his attitude the wrong way?

I can't stand watching him . He obviously thinks he's so beautiful with his coiffured, bleached hair, and constant smrking.(I remember him as a "Ranga" when he made his debut).

If you make a note of his predictions, or his assessment of trends in games, and check up later, he's nearly always wrong.

He was a sniper on the field who delighted in thumping guys off the ball.

i don't deny he was a great player.

'Dermie' Is a [censored] for sure. But biggest in AFL media?

Question might as well be "Who is the floggiest [censored] from Flogtown, Flogistan?"

We, as supporters and 'consumers of AFL media product', are getting a seriously rough service. All that cash floating around, can't buy talent for anything, it seems.

That's one reason why Wayne Carey was so good as a special comments man. Positive comments about Wayne Carey are usually as welcome as the Pope at a masons' picnic but he never tried to be something he wasn't. He didn't need to be overly verbose and was able to speak with authority. If a decision was wrong he would just call it and not waffle on. Derm tries to dress everything up in difficult words to try to sound impressive.

One thing I don't get is why people are upset with this prediction? So what if he said we are going to finish last? Does that mean we will? We're getting like private school girls here with the amount of time we are spending agonizing over how others perceive us. And does this reflect on you as a human being? What do they say about opinions and noses (and buttholes)?

Paul Roos makes Dermott Brereton sound like a Rhodes Scholar listening to them both tonight.

Roos bias for the Swans is so boring it makes me want to fly to Sydney and kick him in the mullet.

Luke "I just love how he goes about it" Darcy is giving Roos a run for his money.

Darcy is a much, much bigger [censored]. At least Roos' comments aren't all completely bland, nothing observations you could get from Joe Blow next door.

Posted

...well they've done it again. If anyone was just watching the footy it's pretty obvious Taylor and Darcy weren't. The umpire gave 2 50's the first for the player getting into the protected zone and the follow up for the Saint player mouthing off about the first.

Ohhh the umpires lost it, he's given an 80 metre penalty. If they hadn't of been talking carp they would have picked up the 2nd one. How funny are these guys, how do you get a gig like this in a professional sport when you don't have a clue.

The weight of public opinion would seem to indicate that Dermott is a '[censored]' of considerable repute.

We should not though forget that he's also very likely to be the most intelligent, witty and urbane gent to emerge from the Frankston Rovers footy Club in well over 30 years.

I still have a special spot for Sandy Roberts as a commentator.

I think he's great. If you get a chance to listen to the AFL Live radio coverage with him commentating its a breath of fresh air!

Yeah Sandy's good, he doesn't try to make a big man of himself.

However, as Mike Williamson will always be remembered for "Jesaulenko ........ you bewdy" Sandy will often be remembered for his gaffe in introducing the 1981 Miss Australia, Leanne Dick, as "Leanne [censored]" during a Mount Gambier Cup meeting.

Roos actually spoilt the replay of the GF they did its the players, I loved the one from Geelong the year before, th Sydney one was ok, but Roos was constantly reminding you of his intimacy with the players who he coached and Long,or was under him etc etc

Came because this was the first google result for "Dermott Brereton [censored]", stayed for the brilliant Roos bashing before our 'demolition' of the Power. Oh 2013, we couldn't have known.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
