Poor Greg is still [censored] off that Mitch Clark is at the Dees when Greg wanted him to go to Freo.

Just cannot bring himself to say or write anything positive about the Dees.

A right [censored] of the highest order.

Even more so at the thought that Cameron Schwab was heavily involved in the negotiations to get him to the club.

I guess several clubs may have been interested in trading for Watts, as many were for Choke.

If the only reason it didn't happen is that "they ran out of time" then it would surely be a serious indictment on Norf that they couldn't get it done in 4 weeks!

And what they offered wasn't enough. Question is: what would have been?

Irrelevant [censored] IMO.

Every player is tradeable no doubt.

But Watts for a Nought 2nd round pick? Please.

But i do expect to see Watts ramp it up in 2013.

It is his 5th year...

I suppose amongst all the vitriol, the idea that Denham is right, or even half right, is out of the question?

I considered that, but then considered this...

For a 2nd round pick?

You'd have to be joking or making it up.

I think it's acknowledged by most that he may be half right i.e. North wanted Watts for a 2nd rounder. That it didn't happen because they couldn't get a deal done is ONE interpretation of the fact that Watts was NEVER going to be traded for a 2nd round draft pick.

If there is one thing the average Melbourne supporter has learnt in the last 12 months it is that there are levels of truth and the way events can be interpreted in Journo speak. Some, such as Denham like to stretch it.

His record is not good with his call on Carlton and as for the stuff about not getting on with the coach or being on the outer it sounds like Misfud all over again.

...but hey stranger things have happened.

Arguably the most extraordinary post I've ever seen on here.

I don't know why you would consider this thread "extraordinary" BH, when so many are based on guesses, baseless supposition, pure invention or, best of all, "knowing" or having some connection to, an anonymous but highly credentialled sauce. (spelling intentional).

Post, not thread.

And I'd have to agree with him.

Thankyou.

Honestly though, I do agree.

I'm emotionally attached to Watts, have faith in him becoming a decent player, and would hate to see him go... but to get a player like Cotchin, I wouldn't bat an eyelid.

If the offer is there, get it done.

Not just because I think Cotchin will be a better player than Watts ever will, but I think a player of his type is more integral to our success as a club.

We need elite mids, not a better Andrew Mackie.

The bit that got me fired this morning was the way Denham said Neeld was all for the idea.

It is just Rubbish.

Using my 'Journo' interpretive speak skills I would say Neeld may well have been for it in WJ's scenario of on trading the 2nd round pick to the Hawks for Buddy & Cyril.

Yes that is a nice "Pipe Dream" but it was in reference to a Nought Melb 2nd Round pick this morning.

Denham just Flatly lies and keeps talking.

Let's see now ... it's months after the trading season, and there hasn't been a sniff of this.

But suddenly ... a rumour pops up ... and guess who's spreading it? Melbourne's Friend, Denham.

Sorry, but the sheer fact that it's Denham decreases its likelihood.

Venom Denim just reported on SEN that Nth Melbourne approached Melbourne wanting to trade a second round pick for Watts.

Apparently the coach was not adverse to the idea, but they ran out of time to get the deal done.

Denim goes further saying Watts is on the outer at Melbourne and may not be there next year.

Personally i think its rubbish that Watts is on the outer, but quite possible that North tried to snare him.

If you believe anything Denham says there's something wrong with you. Everybody knows Denham hates MFC and just makes up things to get a response from the supporters, the guy is actually worse than Wilson as a journo and thats saying something, he's lower than shark shyte

How could anyone argue against that type of acumen.

I have to say I am also emotionally invested in Watts, but I must confess if a swap for Cotchin was on offer I would pack Watts' bags myself

I can see an enquiry. I can see us saying 'what's he worth to you'. I can see Nth saying 'maybe a second round pick and something else?'. And I can see us telling them to make a serious offer or move onto something else.

I can also see trade month ending with that being about the limit of the conversation.

Of course I don't listen to that Denham fella (one of the few bonuses of living in rugby land) so I can also understand that all of this might just be him bored and looking to light up the phone lines.

Let's assume that North contacted Melbourne with an offer for Watts and the offer was for a first rounder and a player and that Melbourne rejected the offer.

Would that make Denham half right or would it make him wrong?

Either way, as a journalist he's a waste of space and when it comes to matters relating to Melbourne, he's irrelevant these days.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
