Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

#48 North Melbourne (Via Collingwood and Melbourne) - Matthew McDonough (SA - Fwd)

Height: 180cm, Weight: 85g, DOB: 26/01/1994

Recruited from: Woodville West Torrens

Style:

Player comparison: Jason Porplyzia

Range: 30-rookie

Profile: Forward who is physically very strongly built and ready to produce. Has already shown that he can kick big goal hauls and his production throughout his career up to this stage has been sensational. Just knows where the goals are and has a real uncanny knack of finding ways to hit the scoreboard. I really like his kicking, very duel sided, hits his targets either foot and has that great goal sense and some nice penetration. Good finisher around goal and excellent from set shot attempts. The real highlight in McDonough’s game is his marking ability, very strong contested mark, 1v1 mark and on the lead. Doesn’t get much off the ground but even in the air is strong and has good body control. Despite his primary feature being his marking game McDonough is also very good at ground level and is very capable as a crumber, getting to the right positions for the bigs to bring to ground and to his advantage. Where McDonough falls short is his lack of athleticism. Speed not great and endurance a long way off where it needs to get to but he has shown promise through the midfield this season showing himself as a capable stoppage player and clearance specialist. Stands up in tackles and has wonderful strength. As a forward also needs to work on his tackling game but with his lack of pace I doubt it will ever be a feature of his game. Might be an interesting potential late draft bargain if he slides because he certainly has the proven production to back up his case. I’d look to draft him into an inside midfielder who can rotate forward and have an influence at times. He won’t be able to monster players physically at the next level with his size advantage he has in the u18s but with his marking ability, kicking ability on both sides and his strong ability 1v1 and improving inside game I think there is plenty to work with.

#49 Melbourne (Compensation Pick) - Matthew Dick (VIC – Def)

Height: 187cm, Weight: 86kg, DOB:

Recruited from: Calder Cannons

Style:

Player comparison:

Range: 30-rookie

Profile: Line breaking defender with some real pace. Can play on either talls or small well. Tackling game very good for a defender. Also capable of stepping into the midfield and playing a role. Ball use fine and performed well at the draft combine.

- From WJ's post of Knightmare's contribution.

I would be happy with these two. And would be happy with Ben Ross in the PSD.

Biaised as a Cardies (Falcons) fan in WA but would like to get Shane NELSON , good runner who uses the ball well. It's only illness which prevented him getting picked up last season and the reason for his slow start to 2012 but finished strong and will be a good pick up for someone

I love when the mock drafts use player comparisons.

I remember when they compared trengove to cousins and scully to judd!

The Scully to Judd comparison is pretty accurate.

Traitors!

Are we only going for 39 players again next season? By my calculations, including Viney, we've subtracted 12 players from the senior list and added nine, taking the list to 36. Why not go to 40 and use four picks? I expect there's a simple answer.

We will be doing that.

We have 36 players on the PL and we will use ND4, ND49, ND53, and ND70/PSD3 to fill the four vacancies.

i am all over Kamdyn,

from what i have seen - seems a clone of RIvers.

# 47 Sydney

Kamdyn McIntosh

Peel Thunder

192cm / 78kg / ‘94

Others will have him a lot higher but having seen a fair bit of him I am still a bit unsure. Seen a few times at champs and also some of his WAFL games and he didnt scream out the Rd 1 prospect I am being told. What is clear to me he is that he is a good key defensive prospect who seems to have good agility and a good understanding of reading the game and influencing it. I think he would be a Heath Grundy type player as seems to go alright on all types. Testing results from DC were very good. Matt Wallis might be another type they would look at

I want us to find Matthew Whelan Mark II with one of our late picks. Lockdown small defender with solid kicking skills and a bit of mongrel is a piece of our premiership jigsaw puzzle that must be found at some point over the next couple of years.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
