  1. Checker without a doubt. Built the club from the ground up and gave us an identity while Norm sat back and merely maintained what had already been created for him.
  2. If prestia wants to come to the dees then it's a no brainer. Outside run is based on mindset, with one's willingness to attack and defend from a stoppage determining ability. For example, sydney (especially jack, hannebery, kennedy and parker) are regarded for their clearance work but embrace the team mantra of working hard and spreading around the ground to get in positions to help the team. I'd rather teach a group of inside mids (jones, vince, viney, brayshaw, vandenberg etc) to spread than get outside types to learn about positioning and body work at stoppages. Our game style revolves around contested work, so to say prestia wouldn't fit makes no sense. If we went to the draft there's no guarantee the player will turn out to be worth that pick. Always take the proven player than opt for "needs." The reality is that we still need a lot
  3. "But in a late surprise, it is believed the Dees are considering overlooking Petracca in favour of 203cm forward Peter Wright. Melbourne is expected to decide on Thursday morning on whether it needs another tall goalkicker to partner Jesse Hogan instead of Petracca’s X-factor." - Superfooty Jay Clark and Sam Landsberger
  4. The longer we wait to get a tall the longer we have to wait for them to be ready. mccartin already has the size to compete at afl level so i'd say if we picked him he'd be in for a debut at some point next year. i I like pickett too but i don't think he's what we need at the moment. we've already got outside runners in toumpas, kent, jkh, garlett, barry, stretch and even lumumba & watts. even if we did pick him i doubt he'd be playing much next year. hogan and mccartin would benefit our team more with viney, jones, tyson, vince, toumpas, brayshaw, kent, salem, watts, jkh, cross, michie etc feeding it to them than pickett would with an occasional run down the wing.
  5. don't know if i could stand another season with another makeshift forward line. we need blokes capable of dominating their opponents rather than the likes of pedersen, dunn, frawley & fitzpatrick just floating around trying to take the odd grab. without another certain midfielder around the mark, i think mccartin is a must at pick 3.
  6. http://www.perthnow.com.au/sport/afl/fremantle-looks-to-new-batch-of-key-position-talent-including-sam-durdin/story-fniv64vs-1227094794975 "And West Coast’s plan to snare nippy South Fremantle goal-shark Jarrod Pickett has hit a snag with expansion franchise Greater Western Sydney or Melbourne set to pounce on the West Australian. Eagles talent scouts are known to be keen on Pickett with their first pick at 11 after the lightning quick forward played five senior games with South late into this season. But Pickett has stormed into early draft selection calculations at Melbourne where the Demons hold picks 2 and 3, while the Giants have 4, 6 and 7 after vigorous trading last week landed critical draft positions."
  7. Would love Dunstan at the Dees! He may not be the most athletically gifted but he has all the attributes that we need. He is a strong leader that will give 100% all day, he can win his own ball and make good decisions. It's time we stop picking on 'potential' and get players that aren't afraid to put their head over it and get the pill. Seeing Viney and Dunstan in the centre square for the next decade is something that should excite supporters. Just because Freeman is big and fast doesn't mean he will be anything like Dangerfield. He could easily become a cross between Tapscott and Blease, leaving us once again with a first round flop. It's time we look at those with runs on the board as opposed to those with a higher 'ceiling.' Last year everyone was worried about Wines going to us because they didn't think he had as much improvement in him as others, but now it would be hard to find a single person that wouldn't pick him. Play it safe Melbourne and go the ready made player rather than the possible once in a generation player.
  8. absolutely agree with you, would be very good on a hff, pushing up the ground as well as pin point passes into thr forward line.
  9. Wasn't Sam Colquhoun meant to train with Port Adelaide?
  10. so is this hannath guy worth a go? we do need another ruckman seeing as the 3 we currently have are prone to injury, however, there is still a fair bit of talent left over from the draft that should also be considered.
  11. give him time to put on a couple of kg's and he'll be fine. neeldy has stated he is happy to wait on some kids
  12. we have a pick before port so depending on whether we really want him or not, him training with them shouldn't matter
  13. colquhoun - rebounding defender with great skills for our 2nd rookie pick i think we should go for emmanuel irra. neeldy says that he doesn't mind having these youngsters develop for a while, and looking at his amazing pace and excellent disposal, i think that if given time to develop, irra could become a very good player as well as providing some serious x factor. andrew boston should also be heavily looked at
