WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - DAVID RODAN

Demon Head

Thanks mate, up for any freelancing work if anyone needs some graphic design - feel free to send me a PM!

And for those wondering who the body was, I used a pic of Rodan and cut out moloney (in action) jumper. Then put that over rodans body with a few tweaks ;)

Oh yeah shouldn't give away your trade secrets. I now see Rodan has a rather substantial love handle on his left side. Photoshop fail.

This is no over correction. We have already secured Viney, Barry and Hogan. We will use pick 4 on another 17/18 year old and at least one more. Thats 4 kids coming into the club.

We have lost two oldies - Maloney and Rivers and brought two in - Rodan and Byrnes.

We have also brought in mid aged with Dawes and may still get Pederson. We will be losing several of similar age when the dust settles with the long list yet to get contacts.

I feel the club is doing very well with this. We lose some players that haven't made the mark and bring in guys with proven attitudes.

Our depth should be very good next year. Great competetion for spots. The key now is development of our younger players (WE MUST GET THIS RIGHT!!!) and keeping the injury list short.

:)

My god there will be a lot of nervous Melbourne players who are out of contract right now. If a bloke who is 29 with banged up knees is needed then you know neeld isn't happy with the list.

I'm not jumping off the walls with excitement about his one, but he's a Demon now, let's support him.

Welcome to the club, good luck in the Red and Blue.

This is how I feel about it. At the end of the day we've picked up a guy who turns 30 next year and has been let go by Port.

The flipside is I would still have him on the field ahead of the likes of Bate or Bennell, so we'll see how it pans out.

Personally, I quite like this acquisition.

Good work again, MFC footy dept.

Got to disagree with you on this, I'm not happy.

I'm all for getting good quality players in the side but I just don't consider Rodan good quality, my gut tells me this is their first mistake and if they trade Gysberyts it will be their second. I'm less than happy with this outcome and hope they aren't trading just for the sake of it.

I like it, we all said we need a small forward options, hopefully Aaron can get fit, along with Rodan and Byrnes, all of them can float across half forward if needed so good guns imo.

Adds some pressure and when fit can be quite zippy and creative, all power to him and the FD imo.

If nothing else it sends a message to a few people who thought that they were safe on our list, preform or be replaced.

Just because he has had knee recos doesn't mean he isn't quality.

Well blended. Hard to tell where Rodan's head meets the thinkers body. Good work.

It's the thought - or in this case The Thinker - that counts!

Garry Lyon personally sought him out so Melbourne will feature in the 2013 grandfinal footy show. He can help teach the small forwards where to run and move to, but definitely won't play much this year

I'm deep in thought. Weighing up pick 88 (noting our club would be finished drafting by then). I acknowledge your point about not considering him good quality. However, I'm weighing him up against who might be outgoing, what his output could be comparitively, and importantly what is 'our quality' like...

He's a hard worker who can provide nous in and under in the middle. A burst player. Depth player. He could be handy. Clearly his injuries have been a concern as you've noted. But he did play quite a lot of games for Norwood after falling out with Primus.

I certainly raised an eyebrow once I was alerted, but we haven't the best quality midfield going around, nor a small forward (apart from Byrnes). He can be dangerous around the feet of the big men up forward and can prove a handful if not kept in check; can kick goals. I think that might be the role for him.

He wouldn't be costly and pick 88 is not much. Then there's the leadership values and good clubman to boot that are indeed positives.

There was interest in him from a number of clubs and had he been delisted as a FA, he could have gone anywhere.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi
