Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

We got something for him..... a verrrry generous pick 88

I don't know what else you were expecting!

Soft, outside, frontrunning, space creating space and space again types like Cale are absolute surplus to needs at this club.

I reckon we did well outa the deal!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH,

very true.

Still bennell for me

I still think he is the diamond.

He is just now understanding what it takes.

He will be one of our most beautiful players to watch.

Think Cyril, but more elegant, yet delicate.

One htat I would preserve with, for sure.

There is plenty of room for Bennell and Jetta. We need them.

To coin a radio parlance term: long time reader, second time poster (maybe third)

I am a tragic/optimistic supporter. Every year we witness the comings and goings of players, sometimes coaches, sometimes administrators which drives posters to make an assessment of such a transition, of which I sympathise and empathise somewhat.

I have generally been disappointed to lose players/coaches and hopeful that the new players/coaches will make a significant impact in the next few years, preferably immediately. There are a few exceptions, of course.

This year is significanlty different! I am not certain whether Mark Neeld is the 10 year successful coach that we clearly need, and there always seems to be a better coach/player/administrator somewherer else. Mark Neeld and his team This trading period has seen a cleanout - those who don't want to play for us (Rivers), and those who we don't want or are ambivalent towards (all the rest, seemingly). This has to be a good situation for the future, even if the short term doesn't produce the results I am hoping for.

Kudos must go to Mark Neeld and coaching staff, for attempting to change the culture of mediocrity. How is this going to turn out? I certainly do not profess to know. I do however know that the status quo within the playing group had to be disrupted.

Considering that the biggest externally viewable difference that occurred this year was the introduction of Mitch Clark, with his singular focus to make Melbourne successful, this is a supporter that the change has to come from without, so that they can inlfuence within.

Good luck to the former Melbourne players. Welcome to the new, and may you be the foundation of the reinvigorated Demons

One look at this years Grand Final is all the proof you need to realise Morton is not cut out for the modern game.

Sad such a high pick was wasted, but no point persisting further with a players who cannot provide what the coach demands.

Worth the punt for the Eagles as they lose nothing, but I can't see him getting many games with them.

Neeld and co have really rolled the dice in this draft. They have gone for all or nothing. I guess neeld couldn't wait long enough for this group to either change its attitude or improve their skills.

I for one take my hat off to him by trying something different. We haven't come close to being contenders for at least 10 years.

Something needed to change.

If this experiment fails neeld won't be around for that much longer.

Lets hope neeld and the coaching staff pull it off. Any which way, it's going to be a ride.

The FD obviously (from where I sit anyway) want to save a few OOC players that they might have lost due to having these three players contracted.

Morton's trade was not a good one but I understand that Neeld has enough projects to worry about Cale, Jordan, and Stef.

They all needed help and they were all (again, from where I sit) outside the top 25 players at the club, even in terms of talent.

We take the money we wouldve given to him this year and effectively give it straight to Pederson or Byrnes..

and thats money well spent!

Cheers and better luck back home Cale..

Its reported in the Age? that we are contributing to his salary next year. :o

Ed: In essence, we are paying WC to take him off our hands...lol

No there isnt.

Bennell can burn up the WAFL now.

In one of the papers today they said WC getting morton is just like getting a packed of twisties. I think no one in the footy world think to much of him.

No, WC were likened to have given up a pack of Twisties (pick 88) to get him.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to
