How many wins as a minimum in 2013?

Clearly Neeld recognizes his tenure might be over before it really begins if he doesn't appease the masses and get the boys singing the club song a bit more throughout 2013. With the arrival of Dawes, Viney, pick 4, Byrnes and in all probability Pederson and Ray, along with the hoped-for improvement in the players already at his disposal, you'd like to think we'll be in the hunt in far more contests than was the case this year.

I expect us to win a minimum of 8 games next year. 10 and I reckon Neeld may even get an early contract extension.

8 wins including 2 against top 8 sides is what I want. And no 100 point losses

8 is reasonable but a few close losses to give us real hope for 2014!

Minimum number of wins?

It'd be pretty hard to get less than zero.

But picking an arbitrary numbers of wins, I think, is for fools.

There are better measures of progress being made.

If the club doesn't start winning, people will stop showing up and Neeld will be in trouble. It's a pretty simple equation but I'm sure the 'deep thinkers' can come up with myriad reasons why it's not relevant or 'for fools'.

If we don't get 10 we should be worried.

I hate putting a number on it, but we have GCS, GWS and PA twice, plus at least one against the dogs. I'd be annoyed if we dropped any of these games (yes even on the road), if we can't do this and notch up another three wins against other teams (at least one being the bummers - they are our biatch after all), then I'd be concerned about whether we are on the right track or not.

Agree. The 8 wins and a draw in 2011 was probably the most unsatisfying team stat I can remember at the club. And I've sat through lots of wooden spoon years.

Bare minimum I would want 8 wins, more so 10.

I see clubs like Port, Dogs, and the Saints going down the ladder, and of course the Suns and Giants to remain down the bottom for the next season or two. So we are easily capable of getting above those.

Of course I would love to see us shut down Essendon again (I HATE THEM!), and we could certainly give the Lions, Tigers, and Kangas a run for their money.

So yes anymore than 10 wins in 2013 will make me very pleased come 2014.

Minimum 8

10 is possible when you consider we had two seasons of 8 wins under Bailey and our list is much better...

I don't think that the reason neeld is topping our list up with experienced players just because he sees his job in jeopardy, it would simply be because he sees us lacking in a number of areas and he is addressing these deficiencies as quickly with as gooder players as possible as quickly as possible.

As for the number of wins for next year, 8-10 would be nice, but really i just want to see good improvement, i'm not really fussed as for how many wins come next season.

YoungDeeEnthusiast ... don't kid yourself. Neeld will know how quickly the bullet can come in the coaching caper.

Do you reckon he'd survive another 4 win season? I don't.

Hahahahahahaha... No there's not.

You and Dean Bailey can keep your alternative scoreboards, the rest of us want to win games.

Not many until we start showing some elan for the battle. Last year it only appeared once. Good teams come to play at least 75% of the season with some off days. For all the praise of Neeld as a brilliant coach his charges have shown SFA. So far his message rings hollow. Now the buzz word is culture change. Fair enough but is as good an excuse as any to justify crap performance and squeeze more time. And the people who put us in this awfull mess are still running the show. And there are no bigger fools than those that keep telling us year after year that we are heading in the right direction but keep moving the goal posts along with new excuses. Basically now there is no more time for crap and we better see some real attitude on the field. Wins will then follow.

However many wins gets us into Finals. We need to start playing finals. We've haven't played any since 2006, and we are becoming a Richmond/Fitzroy type team. It's pathetic. Anything less than finals in 2013 is a failure.

I'll just know at the end of the season based on what I see - simple

No preconceived wins or stats. It will be a number of things that need to be taken in total rather than some simplistic formula or single item

Real progress will be obvious or not

Please enlighten me. What is a better way of measuring progress than wins on the board?

no i don't, but part of his job is to improve his playing list which is exactly what he is currently doing, getting players to fill the holes that we currently have.

Correct YDE. But. Why is this done? To get more wins of course.

Given the AFL draw will have us playing in the shallow end of the AFL draw in 2013 I am hoping for around 10 wins.

That said, I agree with Jose that it will be other "intangibles" that will show where we are really heading. Things like the quality of those times we are on song, how well we hold up against a superior team, how well we are building a team structure, game style and team ethos capable of winning finals are all as important as win/loss in 2013.

I'm looking for us to build a team capable of winning a flag, and the signs of that won't be clear in the W/L next year.
