Does it mean that a Morton only responds to a superb culture?

Does it mean that a Morton just does not respond under a dodgy culture?

Does it mean that our Cale might have much more value on the trade market?

Does it mean that our Cale might be spurred on to being the player some once thought he could be?

Does it mean that Mitch is actually just overachieving and will return to old habits?

Does it mean that teams will think they can turn Cale into a similarly hardcore defensive goal sneak?

Are you serious??

Who says he has improved??

He only played the last two games of the year and managed to jag a few finals. Hardly a player that has improved at the Swans. Right time and got lucky might be better,

Probably not that much really .

I think you might be in danger of reading too much into it.

Which is your Demonland right ,of course.

He clearly pulled his head in and worked hard, which is clearly the baseline requirement to being a Swan

Sure he got a little lucky but he was able to fulfill a role in the team and unlike any Melbourne player for nigh on 50 years he has a Premiership medallion.

Good on him.

It says it took him most of the season to win his teamates & clubs Trust! Respect.

It says he was prepared to do whatever the group needed him to do, within they're Ethos, & to help jn a Big Match. He did.

You do not fluke good form in a Prelim & a GF. He earnt respect from his team mates & Coach.

Whether he has the strength to do it in 2013, who can say yet.

The fact that it took so long to get a game shows what it takes up in sydney. As said above many people suggest they didnt trust him when he arrived, he did a moi Thai boot camp in preseason as his break i also heard. People also saying he played a few good games, he top scored in the NEAFL so was making form.

I think this is where we are heading, or i hope so, elite habits will lead to elite on field performance, and you will need to be meeting these to play, Moloney may be an example this year?

He contributed something towards the win, but had more turnovers than a McDonalds hamburger pattie.

He had 6 touches for 2 goals and an assist where he beat a 2 on 1 situation? must have been a pretty aweful other 3?

You're a bit harsh there he was ok in that game and not out if place in the side. 11 possessions, 4 tackles and 2 goals not a bad effort in a final plus he held up a couple of Hawks to help with the second last goal. I'd be happy with Cale if he did that for us in a GF.

You have my vote RobbieF

And you know whatever anyone thinks his name is there for all to see.

He played in a winning GF side.

Nothing more for me to say.

Mitch Morton says

"Winners are grinner's and the knockers can please themselves"

It tells you not every one becomes a good player overnight.

Some just have it from day one , but with others it just takes time.

Everyone knew Morton had talent. He kicked 41 goals one year at Richmond on the back of 35 the previous year. He had to work hard on the defensive side of his game and finally got an opportunity late in the season.

There's nothing terribly eye-opening. He's finally started to do the things expected of an AFL player at his third club. To get a consistent game at Sydney you must adhere to their non-negotiables. It's been harder to get a game at Melbourne this year too.

How come we seem to get all of the "but with others it just takes time" group?

IMO we have quite a few in a third group.

"The never had it in the first place" group

Be careful what you say about Mitch Morton.

None of our players in 48 years have achieved what he now has.

He earnt that medal yesterday. He was no passenger.

Just maybe his brother will wake up.

Highlights how ridiculous it is (most of the time) to say that "player x, y or z will never be a premiership player."

He played a role - no more, no less. He did nothing yesterday (or last week) that I haven't seen him do throughout much of his career, so I don't really think he's improved necessarily.

What does it say ?

Just reminds me how different siblings can be !

It means he took his chance when it was there, If Rohan or McGlynn were fit he does not play.

But, they wern't and he must have worked hard enough to get respect and while not one of the best, he did what was required and kicked 2 good goals on the back of a bunch of tackles the week before.

Attitude and standards are everything, have the right standards and enforce the right attitude then you will be on the right track.

It doesn't tell us a great deal in terms of Cale, although I admit it's interesting to see that a Morton is in fact capable of developing something resembling an AFL body.

don't compare home & away with weeks 3 & 4 of finals. Yes he played a role but he did it 2 weeks running under big pressure.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
