WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JESSE HOGAN

Little Richard

Recommended Posts

You never know, now that we have Hogan and a couple of possible other players, some players that have said they wouldn't consider melbourne as a club to go to may change their minds as they can see what we're heading towards! i'm not saying that this will happen or that it is likely but i'd say it would probably increase the chances :)

They might not have much chance to change their minds. But maybe they'll live to regret it.

Great to see the Dees being active but is anyone else concerned that we have only picked up one mid at this point in time?

Considering we have the worst midfield in the AFL I am a bit concerned.

Apart from Jones no one else was in form in the mids.

Viney and Barry and it isnt even the draft, Byrnes can run through the midfield, i think we are fine

Watching there highlight reels has me thinking;

Hogan plays like Pavlich.

Barry plays like McLeod.

Jack Viney will play like Jack Viney. Hard & Tough!

You might want to change your avatar.

We are not going to draft a ruckman at 4.

I am very happy with the talent we've picked up so far. Barry looks like he could be real value for us and of course Viney is going to be awesome. Pick up another top midfield prospect with pick 4 and I'd say we've come out of the draft/trade period well and truly ahead. Can't wait to see what happens for the next 19 days.

Been reading Demonland for a few years now, but this is my first post (because I have never been so hopefull that we are heading in the right direction), and it amazes me the people who post on here - are they Demon supporters or just plain stupid.

Getting Viney, Hogan and Barry, still having pick 4 + 20 - (to maybe use on Dawes) and people think somehow thats not good enough and we have been dudded! Do these people know anything about football!

From some of the posts I think some supporters want us to be at the bottom every year to get draft picks, well here's hoping next year we don't have a pick in the top ten!!

Good first post mate, please post more!!

Haha beautiful, well said mate. Not only that but apparently unless we draft an entire All-Australian squad with one draft we've failed miserably. Plenty of other clubs would be salivating at the thoughts of snaring Viney & Hogan and still have picks 4 & 20 up our sleeves.

Wtf are this football dept up to. They've got no idea, sack Harrington, p!ss Todd off, get rid of Neeld.

We're doomed the sky is falling and the earths about to open up and swallow us.

Why doesn't anyone want to come to Melbourne..................

Hmmmmm!!!!!!!!!! Lol

Jones, Sylvia, Grimes, Trengove, Blease, Howe, Magner, Byrnes, Viney and Pick 4 rotating through the middle has a pretty good ring to it.

Hogan, Viney and Wines are all melbourne supporters so great to see we are attracting quality players who WANT to play for OUR club. GWS will take lots of good youngans from this draft and good quality youngans will be hanging out in the two's looking for a game come this time next year everyone will descend on their list like vultures. Their recruiting strategy of just getting the best playsers they can through the door will probably destroy them once concession time is over and $$'s are dangled in front of them.

Can anyone enlighten on what length contract Hogan will / would / could sign?

Would 2013 count towards a 2 year deal if he opted to sign what I understand is the minimum for a draftee?

Would hate another protracted 'go home' or 'Scummy' saga if he only signs for 2 years with 2013 included.

Everything that I have heard out of the club has come to fruition. I am very happy with what we have done so far. Let's not forget that we are not finished yet and there will be a high number of our players moving on. I'm still led to believe that we will still end up with another 2 or 3 second round picks with the players we move on. These picks will bring in players/midfielders such as Graham, Kennedy if he slides. We are addressing our biggest weaknesses IMO. I'm rapt with the first 2 real days of trade. On another note I've heard that we are/were keen on neade, also from the nt. Gws could only nominate 2 and Barry is one. I thought Jed Anderson was the other. Neade could be a late pick.

Had my first look at Hogan just now on youtube. Could've watched him play for hours. If he plays games for Casey next year, i'll be heading down to get a closer look.

In my time of watching the Dees (since late 80s) I reckon our spine now is looking about as good as it ever has.

Hogan only averages 2.2 goals per game this year.

I just worry that we are over rating him a tad...

Especially since we have the worst mid-field in the comp...just saying....this being a mid field super draft and all..

Don't kid yourself because you review stats and watch lots of video clips you are any kind of guru on drafting.

I have watched this kid and he is an absolute gun, size speed, mongrel, attacks contests hard, 1%ers that assist teamates and creates opportunity and goals for others. He is the best young forward I have seen in WA since Buddy and that includes Mitch Clark, Darling and Polak who was a gun as a kid but liked to indulge a bit.

I saw Hogans last game when he kicked the 4 goals and had 20 odd disposals and was with some WA recruiters who knew they were witnessing something special. It was said there and then this kid is gone mini draft certainty. I know for certain Bulldogs were into him after that prelim loss when his season was over

I don't care whether we take Toumpas, Wines or O'Rourke, Viney and Hogan brings to the club what I love most in players so this week couldn't get any better

Welcome aboard Hoges!

Exactly....what a spine!

Frawley

McDonald

Viney

Hogan

Clark

The type you can really build a team around.

    DERAILMENT by KC from Casey

It wasn’t quite a trainwreck although at times, it sure looked like one, so I’ll settle for “derailment”.  The trip to Brighton Homes Arena in Springfield outside the back of Brisbane might not exactly be the same place where Homer Simpson’s family resides but, if you listened closely to the utterances of the Casey Demons fans both at the ground or watching via livestream, you could hear lots of groaning and plenty of expressions of “D'oh!” reverberating in the background, particular

TEN YEARS AFTER by Whispering Jack

Things have changed in the more than ten years since the West Coast Eagles decimated Melbourne by 93 points on the MCG early in the 2014 season. The two sides had not met at the home of football in the interim until yesterday when Melbourne won by a comfortable 54 points to remain in contention for this year’s finals series. Back in those days, the Demons were in the midst of their Great Depression but they have since tasted premiership glory and experienced a long enough period among

GAMEDAY: Rd 17 vs West Coast

It’s game day and the Demons return to Melbourne to play the Eagles at the MCG for the first time in over a decade. A win keeps the Dees finals hopes alive whereas a loss will almost certainly slam the finals window shut.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
