WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JESSE HOGAN

Possibly. But if that was the case why wouldn't we just trade them pick 4 instead of 3 - would give more legitimacy to the argument that we had to package it with 13 as well.

I don't think we are allowed to trade pick 4 as the scully consolation pick...may be wrong

Rapt to get hogan. Some aggressive moves this off season already. Hopefully wines at 4. Dawes will prob cost 20 which I think is about right. He's a guaranteed starter. Look at our history of picks around the 20 mark and you will see why it's not paying overs.

You never know, now that we have Hogan and a couple of possible other players, some players that have said they wouldn't consider melbourne as a club to go to may change their minds as they can see what we're heading towards! i'm not saying that this will happen or that it is likely but i'd say it would probably increase the chances :)

"At 195 cm and 97.4 kg, Hogan ran a 20 metre sprint at the recent NAB AFL Draft Combine in 3.02 seconds - regarded as midfield standard. He also ran the three km time trial in 10 minutes 20 seconds.

Hogan also has great acceleration on the lead, and is a strong contested mark."

Weighs more than Cook and Watts put together.

Thanks. I was wondering what height he'd got to. 195cm/97kg, fast, agile, beast, who's a good field kick and strong contested mark. It's as good as it gets for a CHF. His 3.02 for his size is excellent. Wines best was 3.07 and Whitfield ran 3.15 (with a head cold). In his last game for Claremont he had 21 disposals, 10 marks and kicked 4 goals to be best on ground in the prelim. final.

He makes Hurley, who is 193cm/92kg, look like his slow little kid Brother.

This draft/trade period may well be talked about in 10 years from now for the Dees.

10 years ago I would say that it would be worth it when FFs like Dunstall, Locket, Carey ect could kick bags of 10 but these days its more of an open game where teams need a range of players to be able to kick goals to mix it up more.

10 years ago 1 power forward > 2 goalkicking mids

now its the other way around.

I was waiting and wondering in which way you would find unhappiness in the Hogan deal - now I know.

Have they done anything right yet? Viney for second round OK for you?

Hogan only averages 2.2 goals per game this year.

I just worry that we are over rating him a tad...

Especially since we have the worst mid-field in the comp...just saying....this being a mid field super draft and all..

He plays as a CHF and is often up in the middle of the ground. 2.2 goals per game is fantastic for a young CHF.

Give it rest mate.

Give my opinion a rest?

Mate if everyone took your advice you would have nobody to discuss things with on this forum.

Effectively we got Jesse Hogan and GWS got the two picks we got for stitching them up (with a bit of improvement) when they took $cully; we get a future star they get a $6m noose round their necks, sounds good to me.

You've got to have a bit of sympathy for them.

Been reading Demonland for a few years now, but this is my first post (because I have never been so hopefull that we are heading in the right direction), and it amazes me the people who post on here - are they Demon supporters or just plain stupid.

Getting Viney, Hogan and Barry, still having pick 4 + 20 - (to maybe use on Dawes) and people think somehow thats not good enough and we have been dudded! Do these people know anything about football!

From some of the posts I think some supporters want us to be at the bottom every year to get draft picks, well here's hoping next year we don't have a pick in the top ten!!

    GOLDIE'S METTLE by Meggs

On a perfect night for football at the home of the Redlegs, Norwood Oval, it was the visiting underdogs Melbourne who led all night and hung on to prevail in a 2-point nail-biter. In the previous round St Kilda had made it a tough physical game to help restrict Adelaide from scoring and so Mick Stinear set a similar strategy for his team. To win it would require every player to do their bit on the field plus a little bit of luck.  Fifty game milestoner Sinead Goldrick epitomised

    REDLEG PRIDE by Meggs

Hump day mid-week footy at the Redlegs home ground is a great opportunity to build on our recent improved competitiveness playing in the red and blue.   The jumper has a few other colours this week with the rainbow Pride flag flying this round to celebrate people from all walks of life coming together, being accepted. AFLW has been a benchmark when it comes to inclusivity and a safe workplace.  The team will run out in a specially designed guernsey for this game and also the following week

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play
