WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JESSE HOGAN

Tim Harrington (on Jesse Hogan):

"We rate him extremely highly. We think he's going to be someone you can really develop a team around and with. That's a big statement about a 17-year-old, but he's impressed us no end."

Reads very positive AoB. Could have him as early as tomorrow. An indication that we will still have 4 and 13 for the Draft even if we obtain Dawes brings a smile to the dial. That's what I'm talk'n about.Well done Dees.

Gold Coast obviously rate Martin more than they do Viney.

Maybe we got wind of this, feigned a bit of interest in Martin and told them if they nominated Viney at #2 we'd pass and use #3 for Martin?

No - did a blood test on JV and found Red & blue blood .

IMO Grundy could well be even a more damaging player than Hogan?

I think its a 50/50 between the two.

Please, No more than P3....

I agree but then i thought who would i want?

NicNat or Franklin?

Mumford or Cloke?

Cox or Riewoldt?

Never would i pick the ruckman

can Anyone confirm which team Hogan supported ? I have read it was melbourne but unsure ??

No, Emma Quayle tweeted / referred to that Jesse Hogan's namesake (a work colleague at the Age) is a Demon fan. Not the Jesse Hogan we are after.

I think pick 3 and pick 45 for Hogan and pick 20 would be fair.

Though we do need some late picks to pickup some small forwards...

1. GWS woudln't want pick 45 they're probably done by then.

2. Getting Viney at 26 is one of the "wins" we get from the MD trade.

From the same article:

"We're getting good cooperation with Greater Western Sydney so we are very positive we can do something in the near future," Harrington said.

The Demons also feel Dawes is up for grabs, although appear unlikely to offer one of their early picks to make the trade happen.

"We think we're a good show and we've put a good case forward so far. The player has to buy in as well," Harrington said.

"We think we're a good proposition for him. He's indicated positiveness to us."

Raises two interesting points: If we get Dawes won't be giving up pick 13.

Second point is that the relationship with GWS sounds very professional and productive. Which makes a mockery of the silly predictions that GWS (or for that matter GC) would look to stymie the dees with Viney just out of spite or because Sheedy wants to be mischievous. As i've noted before this is big, big business - too much at stake for games to be played.

Don't think he would be that complimentary unless the deal was done. Otherwise you could see the price rising on the back of his comments. Sounds like a done deal.

Maybe they're (GWS) waiting on other offers to roll in off the truck, & time, before signing off?

'No Big', we have the best fall back option now with Jack at 26,,, we can take a Mid & a Tall, if GWS trade with another.

TWR just said can't use pick 4 for MD because it's a compo pick but this would almost certainly have to be wrong. Can't use it for FS but why would there be any restrictions on trades? Particularly since there's been rumours of Dogs using their compo pick (pick 6).

Wrong. I'm pretty sure compo picks were used last year for the mini draft.

Pick 3 for MD2 (Hogan) + Pick 20

Pick 4 Wines

Pick 13 best outside mid available

Pick 20 Dawes + Pick 39

Pick 26 Viney

Pick 39 traded for Farren Ray

* I don't want Caddy. Has clearly stated (via management) that Melbourne is a Club he doesn't want to go to.

* Pick 20 is too much for Dawes, need a sweetener for me.

I'm not sure about Hogan, but it looks like I'm going to have to change my mind pretty bloody quick!

edit - was just approached by St Kilda and traded Farren Ray for Pick 39.

It probably just means that Sheedy the snake actually had no dealings in the matter. He aint at Essendon anymore...

Something like this would be full of WIN

2 Forwards and 4 mids perfect

edit - although i would not pay pick 39 for Ray

Pick 39 would normally be a 3rd round pick (if you take out compo picks). We might get him with our Pick 45.

What's that Josh Toy like? Worth 39 + Petterd or am I dreaming? Don't know much about him that's all.

Its looks as though the club are in the front running for Pick 2 in the MD. Maybe a player could be in the mix as part of the deal. GWS need a ruckman now it looks as though Giles is leaving. Maybe Martin is taking some time to think about being traded?

Pick 3 and Martin for MD pick 2 (Hogan) and pick 20.

This seems a fair dea to me.

I don't think Collingwood would think they are getting something out of that deal.

Then we should pass. Dawes is just an average player with some size. He'll fill a need here for a couple of years but he's not important enough to chase with an end of first round type pick.

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
