What do you want from the MFC 2013?

Well my two bobs worth is - 36th year as a paid up member in 2013. I want tangible improvement.

I want to go to games and watch a team who look like they belong at AFL level NOT 2012 where they have looked and played like VFL.

I want the MFC to work over the summer like never before to recruit aggressively to top up a poor list.

I want our fitness to be equal to the top clubs.

Please MFC it is time...to lift the bar!

Well, actually it starts in the trading and draft period. I want us to be aggressive in moving on players who are not going to take us forward. I want us to recruit players that have an elite work-ethic, who will be ready to play a role in the seniors season 1.

Beyond that, I just hope we have better luck on the injury front. Our injury situation has been diabolical in the last 5 years. We need everyone up and running at the start of preseason to give us the best chance of improving next season.

I'm hoping that the players will have adjusted to the increased training workload so they're not playing 'tired' as it seems they are now.

I think the players are going to have a bigger emphasis on 'team structure' and 'tactics' this pre-season, so hopefully we will look a lot more organized than what we have this year.

'4 quarter efforts' as opposed to the 2 and a half max. we've been getting for the majority of this season.

AA type seasons from Clark, Sylvia, Frawley, Jamar, Jones, Garland and Grimes. Big improvement and 22 games for the likes of Trengove, Watts, Howe, Bail, Blease, Gysberts, Tapscott and Strauss.

Not asking for much really ;)

Simple, we need to be Competitive. We have heard the word from Bailey and it has been passed onto Neeld and no mater how many times they said it the bottom line is we are not competitive for long enough. I'm tired of going to games that are over by Half time. We all accept that we will lose games, but to walk away disappointed with our teams inability to compete from quarter to quarter for 6 years is soul destroying.

The ability of the club to win back the respect of the AFL, opposition clubs, media commentators and the football public. I'm sick of being the butt of people's jokes at school! SICK OF IT! When the hell is this club ever gonna man up!

Where do I start?

No losses over 30 points.

To go in every game knowing we have a chance.

Consistency in performance no matter where we play (MCG, Docklands, Subiaco, AAMI etc).

A midfield that works - HARD.

Improved fitness and strength.

Trengove & Watts to shut up the knockers.

Jurrah to stand next to Clark and light up the forward line again.

To beat Carlton & Essendon.

Minimal injuries especially to key players.

Marked improvement from Strauss, Gysberts, Tapscott.

Cook to prove to me that he actually exists.

Finals.

How bout a win over Geelong at Kardinia Park (or whatever cheap, corporate name they'll give it next year)?

Starbucks Park??

How about a game against the Cats at the G?

Knowledge that the team will be out there to compete as hard as it can most weeks you go to the footy. Improved skill and fitness.

    POSTGAME: Rd 13 vs Collingwood

    GAMEDAY: Rd 13 vs Collingwood

It's Game Day and the Demons are once again faced with a classic 8 point game against a traditional rival on King's Birthday at the MCG. A famous victory will see them reclaim a place in the Top 8 whereas a loss will be another blow for their finals credentials.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie
