  1. No one will go to a site run by Dr Who. After 11 years there, it's over for me.
  2. For all the excitement about Viney etc, the team (in its various versions) is pretty mediocre, at best. We've got a long way to go in building a good list.
  3. The comments praising Cook are, in retrospect, embarrassing: "elite tank", "beautiful kick" , comparing him to J.Brown and Pavlich, definitely worth picking ahead of Darling, etc etc. Shows how easy it is to get caught up in the excitement of the moment when new players arrive. And not just draft picks. Everyone was really excited when Heffernan, Holland, Moorcoft and Pickett joined, to name just a few of many dud trades. Oops. Let's hope 2-3 years someone doesn't bump the Welcome Hogan thread for the same reason.
  4. Add Hogan and Dawes to the forward line - no room for Lucas.
  5. Neeld is obviously backing himself to be there in 2014. Which means he must be expecting improvement in 2013.
  6. Nothing against Hogan, but we need midfielders, lots of them, and this is the draft to do it.
  7. They might be average players, but our list consists of players who are well below average. There is a reason we came last with just one win. As for the #4 pick, we got Cale Morton with a #4 pick.
  8. Maybe Sydney. They've already turned one underachieving Morton into a semi-useful player.
  9. It would need to be a fair deal. Let's say he wants to back to WA. I think we should do the following deal with the Dockers. 1. We give them Morton. 2. We give them pick 3 for taking him off our hands. It would be win-win.
  10. Jarryd Roughead looks like he could use a change of atmosphere. Despite his poor finals series he is a good player. Would we want to trade for him? What would be a fair deal?
  11. There's one player who has clearly improved under Neeld. May there be many more.
  12. Sam Mitchell. He's a mid fielder. He's blonde. His team won more games than any other team. He gets a lot of touches. He is perceived to be a fair player.
  13. Michael Newton also won mark of the year once. Just sayin'.
  14. Nah, Scully has no chance. And no non-finals player has won since Paul Kelly in 1995, so Cotchin is unlikely too.
  15. I'd like to get Dustin Martin to the club, if only to see how he'd look in one of those blazers.
  16. Sam Blease. 16 games and 20th. Luke Tapscott. 14 games and 22nd. Must.do.better.
  17. Trying to guess who is and isn't worth pick 4 is a mug's game. Remember who went at pick 4 in the 2007 draft? (Hint: his name sounds like Male Corton.) Everyone was happy at the time. As it turned out, pick 504 would have been too high.
  18. If GC bid for Viney at #2 then that is the best indicator out there of his worth in the market. Which means if we get him at #3 then we will have paid unders for him.
  19. Would they be running around the Tan if they weren't out of contract?
  20. Hard to see how Malthouse will lose out of this, no matter what happens on the field. He gets $1 million per year; he gets to torment Eddie McGuire; he gets to have lunch with Jeannie Pratt. From his point of view, what's not to like? And if he succeeds at being the only coach to get flags at three clubs, which with Carlton's list and cheque book in the free agency era is far from impossible, he'll go down as the greatest coach ever.
