  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Not sure why people are being smart arses about a member of the MFC family leaving.

Sure he wasn't able to crack it for a game, but making an AFL list is a great effort, he didn't cost us much and hopefully he gave it his all while he could. I wish him well for the future.

A great example of the lows of playing at AFL level. We all see the top players earning $400,000+ and we think "wow they have it good", but his bloke has clearly struggled with the transition interstate and into this level.

Best of luck in the next phase of your life.

Reports of his severe home sickness were coming out of the club since day 1. Well done for sticking it out (mostly) for the duration of your commitment. Top level footy isn't for everyone.

That's correct Nasher. IIRC Kel returned to Perth for a while in his first year, but we persuaded him to come back to Melbourne and give it another go. I have no doubt our club would have surrounded him with support, but unfortunately it just didn't work out. It's a pity, because he has talent. I hope his career blossoms now that he is back 'home'. Good luck Kel.

The smartarsery seems to be directed more at the effort to make something newsworthy out of a rookie leaving a club, seeing it as another opportunity to hint at something negative about MFC.

Or maybe the Dees aren't quite as irrelevant as old Roosie thinks.

Bit harsh with some of these comments, we have absolutely no idea about what's happening with his personal life or what issues he could be trying to cope with. I suggest though that most of the comments are probably aimed more at the reporting of the issue by the media rather than the kid himself, well at least I hope so.

Agreed. Would suggest Neeld told him he was to be delisted and he may have asked if he could go home immediately.

I think it's the "walks out on MFC" headline that's got people's backs up a bit.

A more accurate thread title would be ..."Kel Lawrence pre-empts axing. Goes home to WA".

Who is Kelvin Lawrence and why does it matter

It probably doesn't but it may be spewed in the press as a player walking out of the club....

Which does no one any favours, unfortunately.

Melbourne rookie Kelvin Lawrence walks out on the club, ending his two-year career with the Demons.....

http://www.foxsports...rce=twitterfeed

"Despite the best efforts of the Melbourne Football Club and AFL Players' Association, Kelvin has decided that he is unable to meet the demands of AFL football and returned home to Perth," Mahoney said.

I reckon we should be happy about that. I hope from here on in that the club gives rookie spots more so to blokes with a real hunger for it rather than x-factor types. A good example would be Spencer who despite his flaws at least shows animal intent.

just when it looked like things couldn't get any worse this year the media comes up with a Walkley special

Yeh on the foxsports website under popular stories, at number 2 is "Unhappy demon walks out". Pretty misleading with their headline.

Would it be the first time in the history of football 'journalism' that a zero-game no-name rookie listed player has commanded such attention?

Clearly nothing more than a [censored]-stir by Fox Sports who continue this strange anti-Melbourne agenda.

careful....that makes far too much sense. You will be pilloried !!

On the head , its about the idea of some other nail being put into a supposed coffin called the MFC.

The guy was peripheral at best and has gone home. I for one dont care. Its a business , all dont make it, he had a crack and it wsnt for him,. Such is life...next.

But its the media want ing to make something of it that it isnt that annoys the many here.

If I may pre-empt Paul Roos' commentary tomorrow night:

"See, this is what I am talking about with this Melbourne culture. You are only as strong as your weakest link, and this guy typifies that. He couldn't wait to leave Melbourne even before the season ended. I just don't see how they can emerge out of the doldrums they are in."

And so on ...

Yes good post. It would have continued with "Goodsey and Kirky wouldn't have let that happen. They would have got Judy and Reidy to have a chat with him. Then he would have had a coffee with Jacky and Joshy and all would have worked out fine. They really are a rabble down at demonland. No culture and an irrelevant club. Isn't that right Mike?"

Mike responds - "er...wha...yeah... absolutely they are Gerard. It's a real worry."

    GAMEDAY: Rd 09 vs Carlton

It's Game Day and the Demons are once again headlining another blockbuster at the MCG to kick off the round of footy. The Dees take on the Blues and have the opportunity to win their third game on the trot to solidify a spot in the Top 4 in addition to handing the Blues their third consecutive defeat to bundle them out of the Top 8.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
