Does SNF have any journalists other than Kimbo? Nobody has a record of reporting rumours as fact like this guy.

I love this last paragraph:

Pearce is originally from Sturt in the strong SANFL and is believed to be on Melbourne’s shopping list as a free-wheeling and high sweeping forward as the Demons prepare for what is expected to be a substantial of their struggling player list.

A substantial what of our playing list? I'm not sure 'substantial' is a verb.

So he's a quad bike crossed with this guy:

And who said he's on our shopping list as a freewheeling whatchamajig? He could be on our list as a doorstop or a paperweight or a transsexual two-bit drug dealer.

Don't give up your day job, Spicy McHaggis.

Cant say Ive watched Port for a while, but I've always liked Pearce. One of those lateral moving, hard to tackle guys. All our mids except Jetta run in predictable straight lines and cough it up.

Yes please.

The type of midfielder we need when he is playing well. And with a fresh start I think he can do that.

His best football in front of him! Get!

Would think this guy has gone down hill in the last 3 years.

Not a great player anymore IMO but sometimes a fresh start can help.

Getting a player cause they get more ball than Bennell is not a good recruiting strategy. :)

Dane Swan gets more of the ball than Bennell.

Would be good in a good team. An icing on the cake guy when all of the fundamentals are in place. Not a good fit for Melbourne at this stage in my view.

I'm not a huge fan but I think he can provide a role if we got him for the right price. He could play the Davey roll circa 2008, sitting in the pocket, getting the crumbs, applying pressure.

We could just sit him next to Clark to get the crumbs when Clark cant take a mark because he has 5 defenders spoiling seen as their opponents aren't willing to do anything.

I'm 50/50 on him.

Has a lot of talent and can be a very good player, but I'm not convinced at the defensive side of his game.

Could be useful on a wing. I'd prefer we get either Jarred Moore or Shannon Byrnes as free agents to play the roving forward pocket role or maybe trade for David Ellard?

Would rather Pearce over Morton or Bennell (or both really).

He maybe be better than them but I don't want us to go down that 'Port' track, of flash in the Night Pan types.

A hard culture needs to be built off the back of hard acts buy hard players.

I reckon good get for the club if able as is right age and player type, only concern is he is a restricted free aged and may cost us although as a swap for Moloney might be possible.

If not Troy Chaplin also could be worth a look although he plays as CHB and our back 6 stocks are overflowing

One of the ways I assess an opposition player is to speak to opposition supporters who watch the player far more closely than I. If you head to the Port board on BigFooty, a large majority of Power supporters are big Pearce fans. They would be prepared to offer him a long term deal to keep him, which seems to be a sticking point in negotiations with Port at the moment.

If his own supporters rate him and want to keep him, (look how highly we rate some of our own players on this site), then he will definitely offer us something.

Danyle Pearce would be alrightt as will clinton young but young is better.

Pearce had a great season.. just doesnt shine as well as others may think because hes in a horrible team.

hed be great

From what I understand...

We are going to have plenty of spots to fill on our list.

Pearce can get plenty of the ball (in an average team) and generally has great skills and uses the ball well. He can also kick a few goals.

I'm not sure we are in a position to be so choosy. I wouldn't be comPlaining if we got him.

Would improve the skills of our team. Not sure there is any argument against that.

We struggle with a lot of things, and each player we look at will not solve all of those problems. But if a player can help us in one or two key areas and is available, we need to get him.

The question is firstly, does he make us a better team? My answer is yes.

The second question is what we will need to do to whet him? I'm not going to pretend to have any idea what the answer to that question is

Pearce, Young,Goddard or Knights....if we land a couple of these id be very happy, along with Toumpas Viney and Wines.

If 3 out of that 7 make an impact next year we will be vastly improved.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
