I believe if you look up the expression 's*** eating grin' in the dictionary, there will be a photo of Damo from that segment.

I won't go off the deep end about their predictions for next year as everyone told us this year we would be awful and we ignored them. Maybe it's time to start listening instead of just ranting about how journos are 'biased' and 'hate the MFC'.

I agree with the Jones stuff. The head of the MFC historical appreciation society is wearing his blazer and getting all misty eyed elsewhere. Make Jones the captain. Try to handle it diplomatically with Grimes and Trengove (they might even embrace it with open arms) but get Nate Jones in as captain.

how could anyone even think of arguing with the fact that the grimesgove appointment was a massive error that needs to be corrected immediately

Not sure but may need to ask Mark Neeld this one.

With Trengove being demoted to the VFL, Grimes on his way.

I thought it would be a good time to bump.

Nathan Jones was appointed years too late.

Trengove was handed the captaincy without earning it - now Trengove is in the VFL.

Jones will eventually lift this side, but he should've been given the captaincy much earlier.

You have to now seriously question whether Grimes has the ability to lead the club. He might have leadership qualities but is he someone you want to follow onto the field if you are Bernie Vince or Dom Tyson?

I can certainly see Jones taking on sole captaincy next year. He is the heartbeat of this club.

Watched the video today, and while the guy is never going to be a newsreader he did a bloody good job of remembering his talking points, he remained on message for a lengthy period, was really impressed.

Dunn, Garland and Jones could all do it, Grimes needs to worry about being a good players first.

No better time for a bump.

With Jack Grimes heading for the VFL, it is time to hand the captaincy over the real leader.

This will be my last bump for this thread - some will say I shouldn't have even bumped it.

But it just goes to show to the newbies on this forum - don't be afraid to have your own voice and speak your own opinion - regardless of what others say.

Well done Nathan Jones, Well done Paul Roos.

Long live Mark Neeld - you absolute spud.

I can't believe so many of you voted against it back then, smh.

I agree that come seasons end, Grimes should relinquish the captaincy. He is a turnover merchant half the time and the other half, is quite damaging. A 50/50 strike rate is not what you want a captain to be.

Nate Jones is just a powerful workhorse. MFC's best player since Neita retired.

I think Grimes should give up the captaincy, but i also think Jones will need help, so make Dawes co-captain.

I also believe that should happen. Grimes as captain is an anachronism from the ugly Schwab/Neeld era. He is still a required player but not up to the leadership job. Would be a great gesture to the club if he stepped down to work on improving his personal game.

Jones and Dawes as captains for 2015 would suit me. Otherwise, I'm quite happy with Jones as the sole captain.

Don't rate Grimes, never have. Turn over King. Let's hope he shows some selflessness and relinquishes the captaincy and focuses on becoming a role player. He has great courage and reads the play well. That's his base to work from.

To be completely honest, whilst there is an enormous gap between the actual playing performance of Grimes and Jones. I thought yesterday Jones' leadership example was fairly poor, too many times ignoring the obvious give off to a team-mate to either blaze away or bite off more than he can chew. He's playing good footy, but I'm concerned at the selfish twang in his play. Grimes is a consummate team-first football, albeit with flaws.

Don't confuse performance with leadership, his refusal to give off to Tyson early in the game and to square it late in the game were genuine examples of me-first football.

    TRAINING: Monday 20th January 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov
