WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JIMMY TOUMPAS

Recommended Posts

He is a real winner this kid. Check out his interview with Matt Burgan on the MFC site, it's a real pleasure to listen to this kid speak compared to the monotone BS about the 'football industry' from T$. He actually loves what he does, how about that.

Viney

Toumpas

Barry

Hogan

Dawes

Pederson

Byrnes

Rodan

four young guns and four badly-needed experienced role-players, I'm giving us an A+

And Barrett and Denham would probably give it no better than a D!

Just watched the interview with Bergs. Fantastic. He is going to leave nothing behind when he plays.

He cant wait to run down the wing in the red and blue... do we have a new Robbie on our hands?

I cant wait to see it.

Our membership will leap when his family joins, I love it.

Welcome Dimitri!

Yep, loved his interview, loved his smile (he was probably relieved to avoid internment at GWS...), and I love love LOVED that his highlights package is about 90% made up of shots of him sticking it right on the chest of a leading forward, something we haven't done a hell of a lot of recently.

Clark, Dawes and Pederson are probably smiling just as much as Dimitri is ...

Not sure if its been mentioned previously (apologies if so), but looks like he'll be taking the no 5 jumper.

Para taken from the AFL At a quiet table on the decking of the First Avenue Tavern sat Jimmy Toumpas, his family surrounding him. Five hours later his family was hugging him as Melbourne chose him with the fourth pick overall. He arrived back an hour later after fulfilling his duties wearing a Melbourne jumper without a number on his back. He did not take long to tell his family he would be wearing No.5.

To paraphrase Homer Simpson, he's just passionate like all us Greeks.

MFC website says he's the first MFC player of Greek heritage since Luke Beveridge (must have been on his mum's side) - and it's about time too.

First impressions looks and sounds like a quality kid.

Refreshing to see a first round draftee beaming from ear to ear, happy to be selected to play for the red and blue.

I wont put his smile down to be drafted by us only - saw lots of footage of the kids turning up to the draft and Jimmy was on the screen alot - he seems to always be happy and smiling - good to see a kid with such zest for life - I think we have got ourselves a gem of a kid

Is he wearing a West Coast polo?

Correct olisik. He was informed by John Worsfold 15 minutes prior to the draft that West Coast would take him with their first pick if he was still available. He was asked to wear the shirt by John in good faith.

Sadly for West Coast he was not still available.

I just read the interview on the website. He is obviously very excited about playing for us and loved it when he said cant wait to run down the wing and kick it to Mitch.

Laughed when he said it was daunting at first to meet Neeld especially when he asked him if he came to melbourne would he deliver. I reckon Neeldy would be daunting for any young kid at the draft.

Yeah, he sounds like a great kid and very mature but seemed to just enjoy the day more than the other boys.

I really can't wait to see him play - he has played a bit in the backline so that might be where he starts out.

Toumpas, Viney, Dawes, Pedersen, Byrnes, Rodan, Gillies, and Terlich are all chances for Rd 1, 2013 and that's what I wanted - to improve immediately while still getting in a great deal of young talent.

We have done that.

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
