"Don't go to the snow, come see Scully" - Sheedy

Is this kid stupid or just deflecting?

Scully is prepared, though he also ventured yesterday that he thought most Demons fans had moved on from his exit.

The comments on internet discussion boards yesterday, some hostile the point of distastefulness, scarcely supported his argument.

Am I the only one around here who doesn't want to see Voldemort ironed out on Sunday?

I mean it would be far more satisfying for me to see someone like Jordie McKenzie tag him so closely that he barely gets a touch.

Cant we have both ?

It's a shame Barry Prendergast isn't playing because I'd like to see some revenge for not interviewing Dustin Martin.

Steven Stills was interviewed for the gig as part of "The Monkees" and still didnt get the job. Do you believe that after interviewing Martin we would have selected him over Scully ?

We can go on about not interviewing Martin but we could have interviewed the top 100 and Scully would have been number one pick - he was touted as so two years prior and was miles in front of any other potential draftee. Absolute non issue.

That would ok..I guess...as long as it's a decisive victory...then flatten him right on the final bell.

Let's pump them, pity Tappy is out though.

But, there should be no ill will toward the Viney move...it's common sense and if we were any good we'd be spending a mid-teens pick on him instead of a top 5. Screw them for no. 31, but JV is just footy.

Anyone tempted to go to the bank, exchange a crisp 50, for 50 $1 american dollars, get a bag and sprinkle it over scully as he is walking down/up the race on sunday?

That would be so good

My one take out was that, as supporters on the outer, we literally have no idea what goes on with match day considerations/game plans etc - it's literally laughable the gulf between the analysis of the internet keyboard heroes here (including me) and the actual inner sanctum of a club.

I've heard that elswhere from good sources.

why would they want to make us waste a pick on viney, at there own risk , they would be giving 16 other of there competitors including GC a leg up. I dont think SOS would be foolish enough

Like the [censored] needs more money.

Give the $50 to Reach, and throw horse manure at him instead.

There is nearly 22,000 Vietnamese Dong to the AUD. We could shower him with Dong ha ha. The money grubbing creep would probably chase around and pick it up so he gets it before fat phil....

If Viney is not worth pick 2-4 or thereabouts which considering I've heard the words 'lacks acceleration' assigned to him, he may well not, why not let them have him? We already have Jones, Moloney and Trengove in that catergory

To lump Viney with Jones, etc, is too simplistic. Viney is acknowledged as the best inside mid in the draft and you'd expect him to become an A grader, which Moloney and Jones aren't. Also, I'm not sure his "acceleration" is an issue.

This is from Knightmate, who is a respected junior footy observer on BF:

"Not a big fella, but purely and simply he is the hardest player I’ve seen coming through the system and his attack on the ball, attack on the man and aggression on the field is without equal and the big reason why he is such a dominant player already.

Speed is good, but not elite."

He rates Viney no. 3 in the draft.

A mate of mine is a GWS Captain's Club member - essentially an inner sanctum GWS coterie containing about 20-25 corporate partners.

He has invited me to several functions, most recently one at which John Quinn (Head of Sports Science) and Alan McConnell (Head of Development) spoke - this was only a fortnight ago.

In short, I was very impressed. John Quinn has a brilliant CV and he appears to be very well respected in this area. Spoke extremely well too. I was astonished at how scientific the game is at AFL level - it was clear we were simply miles off the pace prior to the new regime entering the fold (ie, Neeld, Misson and Craig).

John Quinn gave a fantastic presentation - no one wanted it to finish. Following it, my one take out was that, as supporters on the outer, we literally have no idea what goes on with match day considerations/game plans etc - it's literally laughable the gulf between the analysis of the internet keyboard heroes here (including me) and the actual inner sanctum of a club.

Anyway, I digress.

The GWS appear to be a professional outfit. They have come a long way in a short time in a region that is not particularly well disposed to the code. They have recruited tough, young, talented players - arguably unlike us. It's somewhat ironic that they took our number one draft pick.

Don't get me wrong - I hope we pump the bejeezus outta them this weekend. But I don't wish them heaps of ill will. They're just another struggling sports team trying to find relevance in a region which isn't really giving them a natural leg up.

The other thing I've learnt from attending these events is that Sheedy is a bloody legend. I used to hate him. I now think he's a great speaker and motivator - in short, a legend of the game.

At the time I thought the MFC was absolutely inspired in appointing Bailey. I now think we missed a great opportunity when we overlooked Sheedy - I think our list would be in much better shape now had we given him the gig 5 years ago.

That said, I'm stoked we have Neeld now. This decision, I believe with absolutely certainty, was the correct one.

Sheedy looks, ahem, how can one put it politely, more match fit than he did when he left the Bombers. Not quite as ruddy. The man needed a long break.

No doubt about it the AFL will tip in as much cash as required to prop up GWS. However, I wonder if say North or Dogs or, heaven forbid us, get into real financial shite again whether they will extend the same blank cheque?

No doubt. This will be a quick and easy fix...Our friends at Arden Street are definitely most vulnerable at the moment but we're not far behind.

Merge with Nth Melbourne, Change the name to Norther Giants. Play 7 home games at Skoda, 4 in Melbourne + a few more away games in Melbourne. Even if 30% of Roos members hang on the membership jumps from 10K to 20k.

For some reason I just felt I had to post this Pic

Just to remind us that anything or anyone can be bought with the right coin no matter what ..

Thats why the D's must win against GWS ,

So Sheedy is forced to remember that old adage " Buyer beware"

Hopefully that message will be delivered home loud and clear.after this Sunday !!

I am glad i am going on holidays on sunday night for that very reason.

If we lose to GW$ on the MCG first up, i am sorry but the last 5 years have been totally wasted.

Bring it on & let's see how it pans out.

Well if I was going to the philippines and we had lost to GWS I'd be throwing myself down mayon volcano.

I dont agree with Eagles fans booing Judd, as he served West Coast well. Scully, on the other hand, should be booed and heckled from the moment he steps onto the MCG.

Junior deserves to be cheered every time he gets the ball - hopefully the crowd show some respect

+ 1 Junior was a great servant and I'm sure if he still had his way and we saw the ramifications of what it did to our leadership the 23 would still be running around.

As for Judd Meth Coast made him captain, (which he accepted reluctantly) as they felt it would prevent him moving before he served out another contract. He was a great servant who on his departure also made sure they were well looked after with compensation which got them pick 3 and Josh Kennedy. Carlton had pick 2 in the 2008 Pre season draft and Richmond (with pick 1) would not have out bid the Blues so Juddy could have really walked out and ended up at Carlton if he really wanted to screw the Eagles

Which is why the journalists and commentators are so bloody frustrating. Not boofheads like Robinson or McLachlan but guys not long out of the game could be giving the fans and viewers some great insights into what is actually happening out on the field with the players that don't have the ball. Instead we're treated to Punch & Judy acts that became stale and irrelevant last century.

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had
