Scully's greatest moment is a Giant leap forward

Me too. I just can't imagine him stepping onto the 'G when we play them. Either Sheedy will hold him back for the game, or he'll give him the freedom on the day to run free and collect 40 possessions.

I think that if he does play, he'll rip us apart.

Dont say that. Your depressing me.

And then after he carves us up and makes us look VFL standard, all our players will go over and pat him on the back after the game.

$cully v Moloney...what a joke.

I will need tablets.

What a load of rubbish, his finest moment was signing a $6 million contract.

Sheeds will rub it in saying they're resting him as they need to 'manage his long-term knee problems'.

Tom, you did what any of us would do in the face of that much money - you took it. Anyone who says they wouldn't have is either stupid or dishonest. You'd have been utterly stupid if you hadn't. You're still a [your expletive here] for lying to us though and making those of us who took you at your word look stupid. Phil Davis didn't feel the need for the smoke and mirrors; so that says plenty about your sense of integrity.

Anyway, everyone knows why you're there so there's no need to sell us more bull. I reckon you should now just be quiet and make hay while the sun is shining - you're a good player but you don't look like a multi-million dollar player yet.

No matter what Scully does from this point forward, he has no legacy. Instead of embracing true greatnes, and leading a club, he chose an easy option for money, and also probably listened to the likes of sheedy tell him he will never win or get any where at a club like ours.

It is why no matter what LeBron does, he will never be Jordan. Some sportsman have true greatness, while others take the easy option. We are still waiting for our great one(or few).

Posted

The guy is a bit of flake. To keep making veiled comments on the culture of our club is his way to justify his decision to play for the money. He's a kid, how would he know about the culture of us vs. others?

Good luck to him. If he doesn't reach his potential in a hurry the footy world will turn on him fast. That's a lot of pressure that I'm glad isn't on him as a Demon.

C'mon - it's a footy forum. I'm bitter too, but heaven help me, I can't stop looking.......it's hideous.

Scully's greatest moment will be when he learns to keep his lying trap shut.

He was so good at telling us nothing last year and now all of a sudden he loves a chat.

Wake up kid, you play for an irrelevant franchise and we don't care what you think. Take your cash and keep underperforming quietly.

Kthanxby.

I don't care about Scully's giant leaps forward, I just care about him falling backward on the end of Tappy's shoulder. If Scully gets off the ground unassisted when they play us I'll be ashamed of the whole team.

i feel and hope for exactly the same as you , however i cant seem to shake the thought of the inevitable shakes of hands , hugs and hows the weather up there conversation as soon as the siren sounds . I just hope for f....s sake we are in front or i may go postal....

Over the past few years the cycle of humiliations for us have been as regular and mundane as putting the rubbish bin out every week. If GWS beat us and Tom gets a front page spread and photo with fists pumping to towards the heavens in glory, what are we going to do?

Finally get mean? Maybe it will take such humiliation for this list of under achievers to "get it"

I can envision this scenario. After they pump us by 40 points our players will shake hands with Tom, have a chat and a laugh and pats on the back all round.

If we lose by 40 pts to GWS and the Dees players are laughing and chatting and smiling after the siren, they may as well shut up shop and hand their license back to the AFL.

who's this scully character?

Agent Scully, DC...

Jeez, get with the times...

Great show.

More likely we will just keep putting the rubbish bin out every week.

I'll go absolutely spaz if we lose full stop. And I expect the other 26 people who are there to do the same.

Is this your two thousand and one Scully post or three thousand and one Scully post? I've lost count.

Can someone remind again why we needed a team in Western Sydney (of which Canbera is apparently a suburb)? I can remember I don't care but I've forgotten why it ever was?

Posted

The underhanded way he went about it will never be forgiven or accepted but the decision itself suddenly isn't looking that stupid.

I'll be at Manuka where they generate a genuine home crowd atmosphere for the Giants. What I originally chalked up as a gimme will now be me praying for a miracle. I think he'll play, so insult to injury.

Of course he'll play against us unless he's genuinely injured (or suspended). Why wouldn't GWS play their best possible team in a game they'll actually have a chance of winning?

On Scully, we should keep in mind he had no choice when he came to Melbourne; he had a choice when he went to GWS. I suspect every other player in the same circumstances would have done what he has done. The only difference would be how they handled it. Tom handled it poorly; Phil Davis handled it well. But Scully was picked by Melbourne and subsequently GWS by what he does on the field not what he says off it. And I'm not sure there are many 19-20 year olds who could have handled the pressure in 2011 any better. Frankly, I don't care what he did. He's gone.

But on the issue of expansion, I'm a huge supporter of the concept. In 1986 the then VFL faced similar criticisms when it decided to expand nationally. If that decision hadn't been made there may be no professional AFL in Australia with the dominant code being soccer. The AFL must continue to expand into NSW and Qld - to not do so diminishes the earnings capacity of the game because half the potential audience is in those two states. Audiences mean sponsorship dollars which means revenue for clubs which means development of the best game in the world. The only mistake the AFL has made is not putting a second team into NSW earlier.

He won't play. Nothing surer.

He will play and he'll rack up 30 plus possessions for the winning side. He'll then wave goodbye to the 9,000 Melbourne supporters who bother to turn up to watch us slip to 0 - 12, thereby shoving our lame comments about him being a traitor right down our own throats. I for one will be gardening that day. The guys a future elite player and we all know it.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
