Membership Tally 2012

My dad is an AFL member with club support but has suspended it this year as he is going overseas for three months and can't afford it. I'm thinking of getting him a 3 game membership depending on finances.

EDIT: Do these count towards the tally?

We will hit 30,000 before next Saturday, but we need some early form to push above 35,000 and some amazing form to even get close to 40,000 IMO we would need to win 4 out of our first 5 to give us any chance.

Get this,

Just got the mother-in-law, a since inception west coast supporter, to become an MFC interstate member.

She will only attend the one game at Subi this year in round 2. It will be an interesting circumstance.

For those who view the country interstate memberships as not valid enough to be included in the overall tally, think again. All memberships are meaningful and need to be recognised.

I know they are valid - they are $125...

Yes, they do. Collingwood have a sh!teload of them apparently...

They are $90.

A little bit disappointing we're behind this year on memberships, although not completely surprising given our dog of a year in '11. Hopefully a win in round 1, coupled with the sentimentality surrounding Jimmy, we will push towards our target.

I'm thinking of signing up my cat on a pet membership!

I have never received a membership renewal. Pathetic.

Rang the club last week and renewed my 6 memberships! - must have been lost in the mail they said.

Previous years I have had a number of reminders but this year there hasn't been any. I understand it's expensive for the club to keep sending out reminders but as I am in marketing I always like to see what they do in terms of encouraging people to re-sign.

Poor from the club IMO.

Not sure what happened there JMac. I recieved my reminders both by mail and also via email with the link to renew making it very easy.

For what it's worth I'm an MCC member and each year renew te MCC/MFC membership and it is basically a donation to the MFC as there is no real compelling offer for MCC members who fork out huge subs each year.

Not complaining though but still wonder if we could do more to convert MCC members?

What else can the club do to convert MCC members? It's up to the members themselves if they want to actually support the Melbourne Footy Club.

I used to have an AFL Gold Membership with MFC club support and even though MFC got more out of that than they do an MCC membership I gave it up and spent the $500 per year on a Trident membership. If you include my 3 other family members that did the same that's probably around $1500 that the club's better off. I lose out by having to pay if I go to games other than MFC games, having to pay to go to finals and not getting access to a GF unless MFC is in it but it's worth it.

I'm an AFL silver member with MFC support have been for around 8 years probably a year or two of becoming a full member. How much do MFC get out of my membership? The only reason I'm hanging onto it is once I'm a full member I have a chance to get grandfinal tickets

Such a tricky word. I'll assume your brothers were added to the membership list and not removed.

Yes, just a hyphen between coming and going :-)

MFC get the price of a normal membership out of it I think - so about $150. If you get a Gold AFL Membership you get access to a GF ticket no matter who is playing but you can get an MFC membership for the same price with guaranteed access to a GF ticket if MFC make it.

Considering none of my mates are AFL Members and so I'd have to watch the GF by myself and considering I prefer to watch the GF at a pub or mate's place with a BBQ/beers I thought there's no point continuing to give money to the AFL over the MFC especially considering the contempt the AFL generally holds us in. I also think it's fairer to leave GF tickets for people who actually support the clubs involved.

There's never a shortage of whingeing about the club being slow with memberships so I'd like to put on record that one week after signing up on the dog and bone all three memberships arrived.

Redesigned stickers look pretty good too.

Well done MFC.

Pretty much how I felt I was an afl member for a few years but got rid of it now I have a trident membership it's about the same price plus you get to sit with all MFC supporters it's very lonely in afl members stand

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
