Shannon Byrnes and Tyson Goldsack

Both players stiff to miss out on granny berths but as always in such cases they may be considering a future elsewhere.

Byrnes would be a good fit for us. 27yo hard bodied small mid/forward with finals/flag experience.

Goldsack also has some good attributes and has direct links to Neeld.

Thoughts?

Don't want to pay overs too much for older players. Bargains is what we need.

We still have to find our own young small forwards. I'm also running short of belief with Wonna's dedication. Lawrence I like so Far.

We quickly have to find our mosquito squadron.

Think Aussie will be delisted and rookied.

Byrnes is a hack. Goldsack may be a good fit.

Chapman is hard bodied. Rooke is hard bodied. Selwood is hard bodied. Byrnes is not hard bodied.

Beg to differ ...

I'm open to many bit-part players at the right price but you still have to move enough players on to bring in the bit-part players...

I quite like Goldsack as a player (good size, strong and the right age for us) but I don't know where he would fit in our backline. No doubt Mark Neeld would some views on this.

I'm not keen on Byrnes. Too old for us, and I'd prefer to play Aaron Davey as a small forward and develop a youngster (Lawrence?) for that role in the longer term.

Having a good physique does not necessarily mean "hard bodied".

He looks big enough but is more of an outside player, he can go in hard, but that is not his forte.

I think there are better options for us.

Such as? Who's going to kick 35+ goals for us next season and pinch hit on the ball?

Davey would seem the clear choice but his form is a major worry.

recruiting shannon byrnes reminds me of recruiting a gary moorcroft. Waste of time, space and money. No thank you.

I rate the potential in about 25 player on our list before Tyson Goldsack too. So I say no.

I am not exactly sure who is another choice, as I have not spent time thinking about it, however I dont really rate him, so I would love you to put up some other choices. Not sure who else is available.

I would like to have Davey stay in the forward line and I would also like to see what the new coaches can do with our current crop of platers.

If there was a really good option out there I am all for a trade, but not Byrnes for me.

Goldsack has some currency. Depends on what we could get him for. Could Goldsack make our best 22? Not interested in trading for depth players.

Byrnes is okay, but not really what we need.

BUMP

Goldsack would be a great fit for us partic if we lose Rivers. Can play fwd and back is a hard body and goes at it hard.

Can see why Neeld would be interested. And wouldn't cost us an arm and a leg. Played a terrific game last night against WCE

Absolutely no chance of goladsack coming to the dees

Goldsack is just about my favourite player in the AFL. I rate him really highly, and would like him to come to the Dees, but as has been stated, that's pretty much just not going to happen.

Byrnes looked good today in the VFL against Werribee. Mainly because he can take a mark and kick to a target successfully.

Not bad attributes for a footballer. Seriously though one of our biggest problems i reckon is how poor our field kicking is. It is one of the reasons Watts stands out.

Agree. Some of his work was terrific, particularly his decision making (unlike Wojo's)

Goldsack is definitely OOC.

He is still on the periphery at Collingwood. Though his performance on Saturday night might have changed that. He was ferocious. Hopefully Bucks drops him for Maxwell before the GF and he cracks the sads...Then we're a chance
