Any name?

I hope it's anyone that was 'miffed' by the Junior McDonald scandal.

Obviously there's a little clique at the club with a big sense of entitlement.

They can fark off now. Don't care who they are.

I can guess.

They'll come from - Green, Bate, Bartram, Dunn, MacDonald, Sylvia, Rivers, Warnock.

Just say Sylvia has gone. GWS have sent a great smokescreen that they want Scully.

Sheedy would be wetting himself with the damage done to our club,

How dare we not choose him to coach us.

Other clubs would be seriously targeting our players atm with all the unrest that is circulating. We are fast becoming the Victorian Port Power.

So be it. We have to scrape the bottom of the barrel clean so as not to taint the new wine.

I almost want Scully to go to GWS.

Think about it.

He has chronic problems with his knee.

We'd get two priority picks for him.

We'd free up millions of dollars we'd otherwise be able to spend say trying to get Clarkson or Malthouse to the Club.

We're getting a belter of a midfielder Jack Viney next year :)

Inconsistent players like Sylvia just eat into our salary cap and should be getting paid less not more for what they provide the club on the field.

Same here DF. But i disagree with you on Sylvia. He is one of, if not our best and most complete player. Make no mistake, he is a very very good player. If Scully were to go, it allows a bit more room to move for other player contracts as well as possibly going after a big name player.

With the Scully compo picks, we could possibly have 3 1st round picks in the supposed 2012 "superdraft", or get a very good player in O'meara from the mini-draft, along with Viney coming in the year after next.

With the coaches salary, i thought that was outside the cap? I could be wrong, but i don't think i am.

Why do our supporters buy into this myth? Can someone please explain it to me because I don't understand.

And if he is our best and most complete player, then it's easy to see why we are a laughing stock and considered easybeats by the teams that matter.

Unbelievable some of the hate on here for Sylvia. Thought the fact he was winning our tackles this year would get him some respect…

Sure, when Scully, Mckenzie etc. came back he spent more time in the forward line and struggled. He's lost form the last month or so but before that he was one of our most consistent performers.

He's one of the few blokes in the team who we've seen stand up when we're losing (Haw last year, 4 goals Queens bday this year).

Also thought he was one of the few blokes who looked like they were trying to get something going on the weekend, he failed but tried - 8 tackles

Would be shattered if we lost him. One of our few dangerous playmakers and match winners!

Brad Green is no more consistent than Sylvia and is surely earning more than 450k pa. Both are probably equal in the leadership area (average) and have similar value to the club. 450k for Sylvia isn't terrible when you put it in perspective. If he gets greedy and wants more it is important we get something of equal value in return. A draft pick isn't going to help us reach the final 8 next year.

If we do manage to nail the coup that is Malthouse, just watch these guys dive over each other to sign for a little less money. Anyone who doesn't is in it for all the wrong reasons. Think about it. Get a little less for an awesome shot at a GF, or worry about your bank balance and search elsewhere? I know what I'd take. Money will never buy what this group is in the early stages of achieving.

And Simon Buckley can be a weapon too. And Kyle Cheney can hold up a defensive post adequately in a good team.

In fact, i reckon you could have taken any one of our 22 that played on Saturday, and put them in the Pies, Cats or Hawks team on the weekend, and they would have looked alright.

How good would have Alex Fasolo looked playing in the Red and Blue at Skilled?

We need players who are going to raise their game and those around them to another level. Sylvia has had 7 or 8 years to show these qualities, but has failed along with just about every other player drafted into our club in and around his era.

Buckley and Cheney are no where near as good as Sylvia would be in a good side.

Yes, when we are losing he usually doesn't play as well as when we are winning. He is not the only one. And unless he can change this then he will never become elite. He is a good player and I would hate to lose him. I'm surprised so many are ready to show him where the door is. If you disagree then that is your opinion.

Just read on BG that - according to a posted who cited Gerard Healy - a few senior players will be seeking trade at the end of year. Probably not unexpected given what has happened as of late.

What is BG?

Not at all.

Don't pretend you knew intimately all the issues going on behind the scenes at the club, and that you fought for change while I made apologies for it.

You're talking sh%t. Don't talk sh%t.

You had no idea of any of the issues being talked about now.

I merely don't accept baseless speculation.

I'm actually excited about the changes happening and I think it'll be good for the club.

But don't talk sh%t.

We need Sylvia IMO. A gamebreaker. We don't have many/any of them (maybe Jurrah).

That's not to say he's an untouchable, nor that he's worth a tonne of money, nor that he's even top 5 atm. But I still think he's a player we need to keep.

I am more than happy for Colin Sylvia to stay, but if he wants to pull top coin then he must show consistency.

That is all i ask of any senior player.

He has been consistent in his inconsistency. Not good enough expecting big bucks just because he's been around more than a few years. If he can do better elsewhere then good luck to him. I wouldn't trust him with the big bucks up front.

i am not giving it to him yet....he has to earn it.

But i would hate to see Colin kicking 60 metre goals in another jumper.

How much do you suggest we pay him per metre? He may not stick around if he gets better value.

If these stats dont reek as one of our better players then i dont know who would,

You can add #1 in score involvements i believe to his name,

Deserves to be one of the highest paid at our club atm

edit : and his season has been the most consistent so far, not many players have been consistently better than he has, if any?

Moloney hasnt been consistent at all, Frawley injured etc who has been better for the whole year?

Rumours floating around radio TV and internet about Slyvia possibly going north to Sydney/ GWS and I think we all know now that Scully is gone losing these two who would both be top 5 at the club would be huge loss to the MFC.

This would set us back even further getting draft picks was good a few years ago but we can’t lose any hard experienced players for more skinny 18 year olds

I personally want players that are going to win us games now not playing Casey for 3-4 years developing

Give Slyvia the money he deserves $ 450 a year for 3 years its not to much MFC get it done !!

Sylvia is a good average footballer who can go IMO.

Another important stat. At the end of next year he will become an 8 year player for the club. The new rules for free agency will apply and we will be struggling to keep him at the club if he thinks his chances of a flag with the Dees are poor.

Free agency will allow rich successful clubs to recruit very good players and maintain their high positions on the ladder, because 8 year out-of-contract footballers want to win a premiership medal. Those players will come from poorer less successful clubs with little chance of winning a flag.

We are complaining about GC and GWS pinching players. We ain't seen nuthin' yet.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
