For months now i have been saying that our players are no where as good as we think.

For months I have been told I do not know what i am talking about.

"We have a talented group" "who only need time"

I am constantly told.

Well guys what is the line tonight?

We have A football department that after four years has us producing what may be the worst performance

In the clubs history.

The has beens we threw out did not play this badly

at least they gave their best.

Unfortunately we have to start again.

I am too old for this but what is the alternative!

Sorry DB but after 4 years you have taken us backwards.

Do the honourable thing and resign tonight.

And CC it is time for the same mate.

I said this before the start of the season and was howled down by the usual suspects on here, well I'd like their opinion now.

My concern arose during the early practice games when it was apparent our players weren't good enough and our game plane wasn't either. But no I was told to stop being alarmist and it was only practice we would see the real thing when the season started well is this what they were talking about? Any of them want to comment now; how about some of the smart asses that took a shot at me coming on this thread and telling us that all is still ok.

Mackenzie and Watts are the 2 highest possesion getters till now. Can anyone see the problem and positives to this.

And Trengove leading tackler in the game at 3/4 time.

Those three at least seem to give a crap about this club.

Stop talking of Garry Lyon, he has been out of the game since 1998...it won't happen.

You are probably right and we could not afford his asking price. However he would be a great head coach as we are desperate for leadership and passion.

All i will say about today's performance so far, is that it goes way deeper than just the Coach.

If you want Bailey gone, then Brad Green has to also cease as Captain after today.

NEW START...

You are a cool cat WYL. Jurrah on Bartel, and then playing in defence. Martin through the middle. Watts loose in defence in the second QTR when we have a 3 - 4 goal tail wind and need a strong marking forward. Not playing Moloney in a different role, when he hasn't touched the ball. Just to name a few in the first half. I agree with you that it's more than Bailey, and does go deeper, but he panic's to often and makes silly coaching mistakes.

It's frustrating and I think the MFC are starting to waste the talent that we have. It's not just Bailey, but the coaching staff as a whole.

Just My opinion.

The one and only good thing to come out of this year is watching Jack Watts progress as a footballer. He never gives up. It's such a pity that his teammates can't play with the same determination and endeavour. I've been a MFC supporter from the day I was born and this is the worst footy day I can remember.

His tackle count just shows how much he has been chasing tail all day...

i agree....we need to spend up BIG on the Football Dept, NOW/. It is not just Bailey, that is all i am saying.

These players are getting paid good coin, to deliver us Heartache....it is not acceptable.

I have been following the Dees since 1961.

I was there in 1964 and still hope to be there when we hold the cup up sometime in the next 3-5 years.

However, today's game shows that unless we are prepared to do the hard things now, that will not happen.

Dean Bailey should also see this and resign immediately.

It is not that it's "all his fault"- but it would seem he has 1. run out of ideas and 2. lost the ability to motivate the team.

Old Dee said in an earlier post our players are not as good as we are made to believe.

I am not sure that is correct. But they are not being we led (what happened to Moloney today...Green has played another shocker)and they are being coached by someone who has come to the end of his effectiveness.

Ive become very irate and disillsuioned in the past when similar ( unfortunately theres other days ) debacled have happened but today im quite calm. Im over this bunch of hacks that parade as a football dept. I am however going to need teh club to act and act decisely after this appalling display.

This cant sit well surely with the likes of those with any pride left at the club.

This is ROCK BOTTOM.

Do something MFC..something

without doubt this is the lowest point in my time of following the Demons for the last 30 years. If this had happened in 2008 it may have been understandable but 4 years into teh rebuild totally inexcusable. I hoped Bailey could be the man to lead us forward but there is no excuse for him seeing out the week as coach now.

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.
