Biggest disappointment of the season

Mental Toughness of the team is no where near where it should be...that said i still have faith that it will get there.

Listen to some of "Yabby" Jeans speeches on youtube...no wonder Hawthorn were so strong for so long.

Jurrah without doubt hasnt continued to spark, hes sort of treading water in a fashion. But I think in all honesty hes got a hell of a lot on his plate. Not too many players wil lhave to concern themselves with not only pushing themsleves week in week out whilst having to worry about whats happening back home. He's a community leader in absentia and it must get to him. He has my sympathies in that regard.

I marvel at how the club ( and indeed LJ himself ) have managed it to date. Cant be easy.

Bate will probably find himself with a DCM come seasons end. Maybe fresh fields might renew/continue his career.

Dunn's bben mentioned...he might be joiing Bate. Morton for mine is not living up to expectations...but that been done to death

Greens performances have been all over the place really. Curse of the captaincy ?

Davey before injury was well off the boil.

Maybe we were spoiled with Chip's stellar 2010 as 2011 isnt quite so spectacular, but hes not alone.. a few more are lucky not to get a mention.

Im not sure which Sylvia will show up these days... needs much better consistency and impact.

Bit of a trend amongst all that.. as a few of the "senior" players seem to go missing at times.

- Inconsistent mental application

- Seemingly needing an embarrassing bake in the media in order to fire up

- Dearth of genuine leadership

* The last has been a cultural problem for far too long, the first two are coaching failures IMO.

Sums it up. Nothing much has changed. These guys only seem to play when their pride is hurt. Well #@$& pride. When they have a chance to make a genuine step forward they don't show up. The bad loss against the dogs cost us plenty. Still can't beat other Vic clubs except Richmond and Essendon, still playing other sides into form, still can't win away and interstate unless we are playing lame ducks.

Yabby Jeans, John Kennedy, Ron Barassi and the greatest of all, Norm Smith (or his brother Len). We desperately need a modern equivalent of them to turn good players into great ones!

Absolutely correct - and it goes wwaaaayyyyy back

Maybe we do need one of the Filth's discards

But that avenue is about to be blocked off

P.S. we don't need too many more young and undeveloped talents on the list - maybe more like Beamer

I think I'll look up Punt Road End to make myself feel better

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
