Thinly veiled dig eh! I like it, he sure proved last night why he would be sorely missed.

Did anyone see Bailey grab Tom's face post game and give him a big happy scary stare and hug?

I said to dad that he is probably saying "good game but if you leave I'll hunt you down and break your other kneecap"

God I'll be heartbroken if he leave.

Gysberts just signed a new two year contract so he is out of reach :)

Scully is amazing, and our young players (Watts, Trengove, Scully, Gysberts, McKenzie etc) are certainly the goods to take the club to a premiership.

He looked like he wanted to suck out Tom Scully's soul and keep it in a jar for ransom.

Scully is no doubt the next Judd of the AFL. If he can learn from Judds mistakes (playing hurt and aggravating injury) then he might very well even be better than Judd. Chris Judd and Ablett are still two of the most premier players of the AFL, but you would struggle to argue that Scully will not be mentioned in the same breath in 24 months time.

Trenners and Gyz also showed their class. If they can stay together at the oen club, they might go down in history as the best draft combination ever. The 09 draft landed us Sculls, Trenners, Gyz, Tappy, Gawn. Could be talked about for a very long time.

I thought it was more "great stuff, you're only going to get better from here."

But I having a boring mind...

Youre the kind of person who does their tax on time aren't you!

I did notice that. I thought it was very interesting and a good dig at the self-congratulatory rumour-mongers in the media.

I will also note though that Scully was deadpan singing the song while the rest of the team were going nuts. Is it a sign? Perhaps. Maybe it's just that he's not an overly demonstrative guy.

Some of his movement through and out of traffic really is Judd-like. He puts in these little side-steps that take him out of reach of a tackle even as he's accelerating out of traffic. I thought last night it really did look like some of the moves Judd uses.

I'm generally pretty optimistic about retaining him, and as always I think he has every right to wait on his contract, but god it would be good if he announced tomorrow that he'd signed for 3 years, and Trengove with him.

Is there any danger in the world that one day will pass without a new fawning, sycophantic thread pleading for Tom Scully to remain at the club?

Enough already!

agree - sorry was a bit drunk and emotional last night after reading that article! Last night showed what great things could happen if we can keep that team together - here's hoping we can keep em all ie Scully, Watts, Trenners, Mckenzie, Gysberts, Jurrah, Frawley and Morton.

Just like Judd, when Scully wins a flag he'll give a single fist pump and then go off the ground to work on his kicking.

He doesn't strike me as someone who enjoys anything too much. Steely resolve to get better.

Keeping scully is the most important thing the club has faced since the merger. He must stay. Last night proved the club will be built around him for a decade. He is irreplaceable

    DERAILMENT by KC from Casey

It wasn’t quite a trainwreck although at times, it sure looked like one, so I’ll settle for “derailment”.  The trip to Brighton Homes Arena in Springfield outside the back of Brisbane might not exactly be the same place where Homer Simpson’s family resides but, if you listened closely to the utterances of the Casey Demons fans both at the ground or watching via livestream, you could hear lots of groaning and plenty of expressions of “D'oh!” reverberating in the background, particular

TEN YEARS AFTER by Whispering Jack

Things have changed in the more than ten years since the West Coast Eagles decimated Melbourne by 93 points on the MCG early in the 2014 season. The two sides had not met at the home of football in the interim until yesterday when Melbourne won by a comfortable 54 points to remain in contention for this year’s finals series. Back in those days, the Demons were in the midst of their Great Depression but they have since tasted premiership glory and experienced a long enough period among

GAMEDAY: Rd 17 vs West Coast

It’s game day and the Demons return to Melbourne to play the Eagles at the MCG for the first time in over a decade. A win keeps the Dees finals hopes alive whereas a loss will almost certainly slam the finals window shut.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
