Warnock named in case Frawley doesn't pass the test I assume.

Any chance he could be the Sub as insurance against Frawley fading out around the 3rd quarter?

None, if the club's Sub policy is anything like how I'd have it.

I agree with t_u, I think that's the logical arrangement.

going to be very interesting to see who we name on the bench as well as the sub for this sunday. I was originally thinking jetta as sub until i had a chat to my bro who is also a passionate demon. He made a good point that because the hawks are a slower team with bigger bodies we cant afford to lose jettas pace as the plan surely has to be to run them off their legs and take risks to beat the rolling zones, floods etc. what do you guys think?? maybe rivers or mcdonald as sub, maric??

I think Jetta has been wrongly pigeonholed as a fast Indigenous player. In my opinion he doesn't have great pace but his positioning, fantastic lateral movement and good set of evasive skills allow him to overcome the lack of burst speed. With these skills I believe he is better suited to a more inside midfield role than a speedy outside midfield role.

Or warnock might play to match up on Hale. Alternatively, Rivers might pick him up.

Macdonald out for Frawley for team balance. Petterd Martin Jetta on the bench, Sub Maric. Petterd looked more dangerous than Maric last week, and IMO we should rotate the sub week to week or every two weeks to maintain match fitness.

Really important to get the ball quickly through the hawks zone and try to isolate their shorter backline.

Given Frawley will lack match fitness (and assuming he plays, of course) I expect MacDonald to be on the bench with Petterd, Martin and Jetta (sub). Maric misses out. This adds a defender, when compared with last week's team, meaning Grimes or Tapscott or both can be given a chance up the field as part of the shifts which occur with rotations.

like the thinking there La Dee-vina Commedia

Dont agree with all of the Cam Bruce bashing though, the bloke was great to our club

I'm with you there, it's pretty pathetic to bag a bloke who finished top10 in the B+F ten years running including a win and two runner-ups

I think the 'he might hit a demon target for once' line has been trotted out about 35 times this week

plus hes a really great bloke. LAst year at the western demons dinner we had Brucy & Green sit on our table. Brucy was a real top bloke, really laid back and probably started more conversation than anyone else on the table!

in reference to the first comment what was the go with the sewell trade, I didnt even know we went after him. What went wrong with the trade that lead to disaster. Like I said I dont even know the start of the story but he would have been a hell of a pick up

All parties bar Ryan Ferguson agreed to the trade.

Melbourne were trying to off load Ryan Ferguson for Sewell but Ferguson refused to go. I think the hawks agreed with it but melbourne couldnt get ferguson to agree. Which is stupid because he would have been alright at hawthorn. But Sewell would have been a handy get.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi
