    Movember

All good striker As much as the money is nice the most important thing about doing this is making people aware of the situation. To often we encourage our gfs, family ect to keep an eye out for any changes and get regular check ups but as guys most of us (myself included) dont follow our own advice. So if I have to look like and idiot for a month so be it lol.

As men we generally ignore ourselves in realtion to our health and for the sake of ourselves and our families this has to stop. If anyone would like to donate look me up on the movember site, my name is kerry kegs sweetman and donate anything great or small it all adds up and if your not in a position to donate simply pass the word around and make people aware of the cause. Remember its not just woman that get cancer!!!

yeah because no loyal players have ever left a club before chasing a bit of coin. Im not interested in an arguement, I asked a question and it has been answered and I am happy with that

our vice captain however you spell his bloody name, its a shame the footy club isnt a bunch of perfectionists like some of the people on this site, we might win a few more games

Have heard that he has been offered a contract at the bombers and has put off talks till just before trade week to think about his options, has any one else heard this and does it have any substance to the rumour. If it is and he does go it will severly hurt us. For the record if the rumour is true I dont think he would go, he seems to love the club
  12. Well thanks that just stuffs up my grand plan :.)
  13. Yeah I understand that but as I said assuming Scully leaves as I think he will (personal call) it has been stated we will be given 2 first round draft picks, now as this draft is apparently so shallow if we use our first 3 rnd 1 draft picks and a player or 2 whick we have to get rid of any way to get our hands on a couple of the 17/yo/s from the super draft therefore only leaving whatever we get next year to get Viney the following year. and as the trade period is before the draft period would this not also give us a rnd 1 pick to potentially get a decent player from another team, leaving potentially only a 2nd rounder to get Viney which as our best available pick is still enough regardless of what the other teams bid. Would that not be a massive win/win for us or have I got this all wrong
  14. What you say about paying a high price for Viney, Is it possible to cheat a bit here and assuming Scully leaves we go hard at the priority picks for the 17yo's with the compo selections and whatever we get for where we finish and get as many of them as possible leaving whatever is left to claim Viney, getting the best of both worlds. As my understanding goes we do not actually have to give up a 1st rounder to get him, as a father/son selection we simply put our draft selection forward and if another team bids to we just have to match it with our next best available. If all we have left is a 2nd round then so be it, I could be well wrong here but thats how I understand it
  15. bloody hell I dont think I have seen my kids act as silly as some of you guys are. If you have differing opinions then by all means stress your point but dont keep it going and waste the time of the people that are actually hear to talk about footy. To mant people on hear try to make and take things personally
  16. The idea of having Patton the forward line is appealing but is it really required with jurrah, watts and even potentially gawn down as our talls, I agree with the first poster and say we should go for another gun midfielder, lets face it there will be a vacancy there very shortly
  17. Stuff the snow im off to mauritius in april. Sun, sand and plenty of food and drinks
  18. Where I am in Tom Price in WA paying $4.30 for a coffee would make my day, Just went into town to get some lunch and a mocha coffee (hot) chips and gravy and a cream roll $24. Got to love small mining towns lol
  19. From what I read yesterday the mini draft works by the AFL sending out a list of kids that are eligible who then nominate whether or not they want the chance to go into this mioni draft. Once the list is finalised the clubs are given the list. The picks are obviously 1,2,3,4 which is then up to us to sort out a deal with GWS to get one of those picks and it is up to them to decide what pick we get for our offer. Not all four picks have to be used this year as long as all four are gone by the end of the same period next year
  20. A) because I rate him way better then Newton B) Because Newton will be gone at years end C) Because they will prob give Newton another contract extension and he needs a friend to talk to in the stands during the games
  21. I actually think the likes of a Tom Hawkins would do well playing for us, Since he walked through the door at Geelong he never looked to comfortable to me. He had a great first season but then with the pressure that his name brought him and the pressure on him as a player to keep the Geelong express moving forward with the force that it had been seems to me to have gotten to him. I think if we were to get our hands on him and let him grow into the role with a team of players around his age could be what he needs to be the player I think he is capable of being. Having said all that I would not be willing to pay to high a price but seeing as he has hardly played this year and is clearly not in Geelongs best 22 I dont think they would want to much for him. This is along thie lines of what this thread is about, I think we need to start looking at trades. Not go all out for the game beaker just yet and still put most of our eggs in the draft basket but if we can do it well like we have recently then we can increase this momentum that we are slowly starting to build.
  22. for the record I was not suggesting we forget the draft and fully focus on the trade table, I was just wondering when people thought we should move towards it and what kind of people we sould be looking at. I personally think we should not just sit back and wait for a player to put his hand up and say come and trade for me, for to long people have been whispering in our players ears and I think it is time we did the same thing. Be proactive and if there are signs that a player is unhappy and it would benifit us then go for goal. And as I said in the orig post I personally think Scully is gone so with the room in our cap and the draft picks that we will get for him then it may be the ideal time to get that star that we need
  23. I agree with you that it is not the ideal time for us to launch an assult on the top of the ladder but with the draft the way it is it could be a chance worth takeing if we are brave and smart enough. For me our greatest issue is our forward line our leadership and our toughness. I personally think Scully is gone so with the picks we get for him (if it happens) we would have the salary cap and picks to make it happen for pretty much anyone
  24. It seems to me that for a fair while now the top to quickly improving teams seem to reach a point when the draft becomes less of a focus and the trade table seems to take over. Teams reach a point in their devolopment when they are happy with their basic set up and start to use their draft picks to brings in players to compliment and polish of what they already have in order to push them the rest of the way. Collingwood, Hawthorn and Carlton are prime examples of this while Geelong is probaly the odd one out(they instead had a father/son gift basket handed to them), each club has reached a stage when they have said we have what we need in terms of kids and now we need some experience and polish to finish the job. My question is are we close to this point yet and if not how far of do you think we are. In my opinion I think we are still a year off this stage but with draft selections being so valuable with the compromised draft it could be worth the risk to gamble on our very talented youth and make a play for that team lifter to get us up there with the big boys, such as Carlton did with their youth and getting Judd. Any thoughts???
  25. I dont think there is any way that the club would give up jones He is one of only a few demons that put in 100% effort and physicality each and every game regardless of the overall team result. Even if his efforts dont always work out with the best result. If he is keen to come back to Vic then I think we should make a play for him just not at any cost, Warnock unfortunatly seems to have reached his used by date and maybe another but but I dont know who. I would not be keen to give up our few draft picks for someone that is not what I regard as a game breaker and by that what I mean is his precence in the team would make a difference to our defence but not having him there will not cost us any games either. Hope that made sense
