AFL wrap of the weekend listed Billy as best player for Glenelg, he certainly isn't laying low so other clubs won't notice him.

Bummer - 20 kicks, six handballs, 12 marks and two goals and they were playing Adelaide as well, so it was a huge game by him.

I think it's safe to say that he will now take our second round pick but at least he's shown he's worthy of it against a side that included 14 AFL-listed Crows.

I think we'd of had to part with our second rounder anyway.

Was pretty impressive during the champs, I thought one of the more impressive kids throughout.

My view...fwiw

We are simply after good players. If we have to pay market value then so be it. We actually accomplish what we need to do , get decent players.

Many want to slide ol' Billy through on the cheap but if full whack then so be it. We still better our list, isn't that what it's about.

He is as likely to go to another club as J . Viney was.

We are in need of kids who love the Demons and can play.

It seems to me the recruiters always have a plan a ,band c for their top picks and deals are done before the draft takes place- don't tell HQ or the Swans whole strategy will implode.

First footage of billy stretch is up and must say I am impressed.

Will add a lot of run and carry and speed down the outside which is something we lack. Needs to bulk up but the club will look after that

If we Nab him 3rd round it will be a steal!

Looks a good prospect. Kick doesn't look like its got a lot of penetration as yet but I'm sure he can build that into his game.

An absolute steal. The fact we will finish so low on the ladder gives us more chance of him slipping through, and if that happens I think it will be terrific for the club.

There will still be some detractors to his game, saying he is an outside runner, we've seen guys like Morton do this before etc, and I can see where they are coming from. Stretch is purely an outside midfielder who will need the support of the in and under types to help win him the ball, but, from all reports Billy is an extremely hard worker who will do everything to improve as a player and he seems to get to the right places and use the ball effectively. God only knows how badly we need a few more good ball users in our side.

Only time will tell if the club wants to take him as a F/S selection, particularly if we are possibly forced to take him in the second round, but I think he would be a great acquisition for the club.

Looks like he can get a clean handball off while being tackled

Thats rare at the MFC

Would be awesome if we got him in round 3, but certainly wouldn't complain about using a 2nd rounder on Billy if we had to

Looks like a very smart footballer. Doesn't panic, and draws his opponent whilst looking for the best opportunity to deliver the ball from half back. Always moving when he has his hands on the ball using evasive techniques.

Excited.

Evasive, works both sides of the body by hand or foot, solid mark, a true 'running' player. What we need, and frankly reminds me of his old man.

What people dont know is that as a 16 year old he got 15.4 in the beep test so he is an absolute gut runner and running machine.

Very impressive combination of speed and endurance for such a young man

easily his most impressive attribute, he also has great footy smarts which I think is very important for that type of player

If reports on younger players under F/S are true I am going to have a nana nap in season 2016 wake up and think I am still asleep dreaming of the late 80's Viney, Stretch and Lovett.

Last night on Chooseday footy on Foxtel they played the 1987 semi Melbourne V Sydney. I had forgotten how awesome that team was under Northey and for anyone who doubts Steve Stretch's credentials or bravery he was sensational as a hard running goal kicking winger. I hope his son is half as good and we recruit him.

No offense but we've heard all these glorious fitness stats and indicators from high draft picks over the last 7 years and had it translate on an AFL field into precisely zero.

Kid looks OK though

Doubt he will make any impact for this club though for several years

C&B, that's total [censored]. So when Nic Nat jumped higher than anyone before him the recruiters wrote 'that means flock all'.

well I was talking about us

and obviously if you are talking about vertical jump for a ruckman that might be an exception

morton watts toumpas and trengove all tested through the roof for these things didn't they?

I'm just saying perhaps these athletic yardsticks obscure the judgment over the more important aspects - guts, brains and skills, that's how they picked players up ntil qbout 10 years ago when every aspect of the game became obsessive with statistics and sports science

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
