This is such sad news to hear. i have actually dropped a few tears, and i never met the man.

But that photo of Jimmy and Matthew celebrating our win from 2 years ago should become an icon of the club. It says it all.

If anybody has a copy of it i hope the upload it at some stage

R.I.P. Matthew Wonaeamirri...

Thanks for putting this up SD. I hope this photograph is never forgotten. To me it has always represented the "New Demons" Now i hope it takes on an even bigger meaning.

Next season we must all remember to help Aussie when he is on the ground. He will be playing for his Dad.

It's a terribly sad day for Aussie, his family, the Tiwi community and the club.

Sincere condolences to Aussie and his family on their loss.

The picture of Mr. Wonaeamirri and Jimmy Stynes hugging after that win against Brisbane will always live in the memory.

I just don't know what to say. It's just such a terrible thing to happen to good people. Condolences Aussie.

At times, like this, footy can seem like it's just a game. My heart goes out to Aussie, I hope he remembers all the good times he has had with his dad, over as many turtles as he can handle!

When he comes back, let's make sure Aussie knows he has another family here, who are willing to support him all the way. Because at times like these, footy can be more than a game. It can provide a support network, that whilst it cannot replace what has been lost, can provide the impetous to move forward in the next chapter of your life with love, support, courage and conviction.

The Melbourne Football Club is a family Aussie, and we'll be here to help you all the way through this and forward.

Remember the good times mate, there's one moment in particular that sits in all Melbourne supporter's minds and hearts. It's etched in MFC history and your father's legacy will forever live on through you.

My condolences to Aussie and family on this sad occasion. :(

A tragic loss not only for Aussie and his family, but as it appears, for the local community too.

My thoughts go out to all who are affected, especially little Aussie.

It is just another sad reminder that life is short and you never know when it will all be taken away from you.

We may have lost 600 games of playing experience but there is one great big stark life experience for everyone at MFC to make the most of everything you do whilst you can still do it........... (and then look at the president and work even harder)!!!

I was shocked to hear the bad news

Terrible tragedy. my thoughts also go to Aussie, family and friends.

I never meet him, but seemed like a ' larger than life ' personality

His memory will last forever. (and my memory of the man)

Ps: My sympathy also to Demon Hill.

May they both rest in peace.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
