Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Wrong call and have a listen.  Its an excellent summation between Robinson and David King.  Not to be trusted based on last year and selfishness. King has the faith and has a good logic, Robinson looks at history and who can blame him but still gives credit where its due.

The team owe us after sitting through the last game and talk is cheap.

I expect them to be at least 3 - 1 after four rounds if the team is serious about hurting after last year.

I really could not care less what any of these so called media pundits think of our chances... I only care that we make finals, and opinions, regardless of where they come from, will have no bearing on that.

He really does struggle to put 2 words together. Must have been a big summer for Slobbo.

They say opposites attract, which would explain why Hutchison detests Slobbo so much. They are just so similar

Yesterday i heard Dr Turf and Hutchison asking a10 year old kid whether he had opened a phone account yet? Just disgraceful.

I have family members who blew the lot on horse racing, and nobody knew until it was all done.

Horse ? Racing is not a sport, it is a money grabbing industry.

Sorry i digress, But it is sad when we are forced to hear these morons opinions, if we want to hear about sport

grrrr....

I think a lot of people would have Melbourne outside top 8.  Even most supporters are hoping we make the finals rather have the expectation that we do.

I'm one of them, hoping we do with no real confidence that we will.  Ability wise we have the talent, mentally do we still have that mental fragility.

I agree with his reservations. He hasn't forgotten that woeful effort in the final round of last year, and I haven't either.

On paper, we should make the 8, but there is a lot more to it than that.

Pre-season predictions are pure guesswork, no one really has any idea. Who would have tipped the Bulldogs for 2016 premiers or the Tigers for 2017? Most pundits didn't even have them making finals in their respective years!

I can only hope we fall into this category Sisso.  Unfortunately this club has great cred, but unfortunately for not winning the games it should (or is expected) to win, time and time again, over many seasons now.

I'm not big on Robbo and his analysis or lack thereof generally, but i'm in his camp in the sense that i will believe we are going to make the eight when we have no chance of missing the eight.  Whenever that is!

On Paper many teams look like they should make the eight.  Doing so is obviously a lot harder however, and depends on many issues.   One of the key areas is having a very light injury list throughout the year (and very few suspensions to key players!).  You will find both the Doggies and Toiges went through their Premiership seasons with a very good result in this area, as most Premiership teams do.  Unfortunately we usually suck in this area and have done so for many decades now.

As always with the MFC i am hoping for the best but also prepared for something less.

seriously guys, did any of you think you were going to get some unique insight from slobbo, or even some small smidgen of information to justify starting a thread on his 'opinion',let alone posting any response to his inebriated scribbling

That's a bit tough. He may not be inebriated. He could just be stupid.

Not sure why people are surprised or upset by this, in no particular order I’d have crows, cats, port, swans, tigers and gws ahead of us in the race for the 8 and I’d have us on par with bombers, saints, wc and dogs. So I don’t think it’s unreasonable to have us missing the 8 again

It's not unreasonable to think we won't make the eight.  I don't blame anyone for not trusting us.   But I do expect insightful analysis.

Btw, we'll be better than Port.  We have a better and more balanced list.  They do not have one elite defender and barely any I'd put in the very good category.

I also have us ahead of the others you place us on a par with.  Essendon have zero grunt in their midfield.  They will be slaughtered by the good teams, because they don't win contested footy.  We're now ahead of St Kilda by some margin.  They lack genuine class.  And perhaps you can tell me who's going to kick Footscray's goals ?

We beat all three last year and I expect the gap too grow.

It's one thing not being biased and another not understanding the opposition's strengths and weaknesses.

You just listed last year's eight and those that narrowly missed as this year's eight. Really going out on a limb there.

Outside of Stringer they are have the same fwd line that won them the flag in 2016, if they can find some of that form again they should be back in the 8 this year, I don't think Richmonds fwd line was any more potent last year either.  For the last 2 years at least the team that ultimately won has been the best at creating pressure inside the f50 and more importantly defending

Both port and essdrug, are in same boat  both are down hill skiers, rocky get plenty of pos but can't hit a target, motlop  only runs one way, and we all know watts. Essdrug all there new players run one way, none can win the hard ball, they have done nothing at  all in improving that stat, they have lost there only inside mid, beat essdrug on the inside and they have no answers.

I won't watch it but I'm guessing he does the classic Robbo 180 in the space of 2 sentences.

1. "It's not for me to say where they will finish.  I don't know what is going on in their heads.  I don't know how the camp fiasco will play out.  I don't know how the Watts exit will affect them.  I don't know.  (pause)....I just don't know".

2. "But if you arks me, they miss.  Just when ya think Melbourne are about to come...they let you down.  They let you down.."

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
