Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

From a Crows mate:

why don't we get Watts to play the Lever role for half the price and better kick?

Watts doesn't have the physicality to play that role. He can swing down there off a wing and embarrass Taylor Adams going both ways but if Watts was playing defence all day I would isolate him and play his man one-on-one and that would be that.

For what its worth here is the crows defender's rating and comments from news.com (yes i know). Ratings out of ten in brackets

6. Jake Lever (4) — Unsuited to playing against the dynamic, small Tigers forward line. Exposed for pace at times and didn’t kick the ball particularly well.

8. Jake Kelly (4) — Appeared to be hampered by a hamstring issue and never made a mark on the game.

12. Daniel Talia (5) — Can’t really fault the key defender — unless you want to compare him to his opposite number in Rance?

15. Kyle Hartigan (3) — Filled his personal blooper reel at a furious rate early in the game before recovering slightly.

16. Luke Brown (5) — Did his job like he always does apart from one marking contest where he was left one-out on Martin.

29. Rory Laird (6) — In Adelaide’s best, but that wasn’t saying a lot in this game.

It's interesting they've chosen to single out that contest. I thought it was a clear free kick to Brown for a hold of the jumper.

With the free kick against Lever, that had to be.

Riewoldt also got his 1st goal after giving a big jumper tug to Talia at half forward.

Yep I agree with that, was just funny coming from a Crows mate that asked the question. Already in damage control over there!

You're right about the Lever free, but after the first Riewoldt mark where Lever was clearly held down without a free being paid, he was probably thinking it was anything goes for the day. You could say he was half right.

was a bit ( too much ) tiggy touch umpiring re jumpers. Wasnt  an equal application through out the day.

Lever was no Astaire but did ok at the Big Dance

Watching Lever he didn't do anything spectacular(and so did his mates). If O'Mac played in Lever's position and team would have performed just as bad. Perhaps we are making too much fuss over Lever, mind you he will be an asset. O'Mac might have to play in another position.

Townsend was Richmond's Wallis yesterday. That'll guarantee him a job after his career is finished........

A carbon copy out of a Coach's manual  about "skill versus dill" from not so long ago.

Dangerfield much as i dislike him would have made the difference yesterday especially adding to maggots confusion.

not only that, bub, something else not brought up yet was the ump's handling of play on. I counted 5 times when crows had taken a mark and made to handball but didn't, the ump quickly called play on and the player had to make a rushed ineffective disposal. In each case it seemed to me the player hadn't moved off his line. really stood out to me.

some very odd decisions about playing on.  Both sides really. The advantage rule ( muffed, fluffed and stuffed ) !!

All in all  some bizarre decisions ( or non decisions ).  Had a whole season to get used to it though.

A couple of times our lad Jake was  somewhat non-plussed  about the vagaries of what was happening. Just when he thought they wouldnt blow a whistle for zigging...they would...when they had for zagging  and had a Toiges infringe he wasnt given a zac. A couple of times you could read his lips !! What the F ???

The whole 'holding ' thing is very ambiguous

I think the most important thing to take from Richmond and the Doggies success is that 1 trade won't make us a premiership team from where we are now. It's about having the right game plan and a belief in that plan. We looked the real deal when we beat Suns, Pies, Doggies and Eagles. Injuries can be blamed, but it took us 12 rounds to look good enough to win the flag when we needed to be switched on from round 1 till the end.

I don't think Jake is worth 900k a year* sum, but once he wears our colours i'll back him to the end.

What now?

When is the Adelaide B&F?

Will he announce anything prior?

Does anyone know the credibility of the AFL Shouter?

Mate telling me this guy is tweeting the Saints are about to make a play for him.

I can't find the tweet though.

Yes, I'm bored!

Hahaha relax mate. Actually I am a little bored as well. We need some more fake rumors or something to pass the time

I assume crows will be in lock down for a couple of days. I think trade week starts this week? I should look it up (but cbf) I assume Lever will either re-sign or nominate a club this week.

A lot of these deals get done mid year (terms etc agreed to)... Only Lever and his manager would know exactly.

I find it just unrealistic noise sometimes with North and Saints etc now making plays.... If you think about it and you were moving employers, generally speaking it wouldn't be a spur of the moment decision.

I'm not saying it can't happen, but I reckon Lever has already made up his mind. We will just have to wait to find out who it is.

Lever was one of their best in the first half. He did well and showed that he cared when he gave it to Townsend at the quarter time break. Beggers can't be choosers, we have Oscar 'deer in the headlights' Mcdonald at the moment for christ sake.

I thought trade week was starting the week after, because Clarko complained a couple years ago, being too soon after the GF?

Actually i reckon hunt was tagged a bit in the latter part of the year. Or at least a fair bit of work put into him to stop.his run out of the back half. It worked too as earlier in the season it was one of our major weapons. I supwct his metres gained stats fell off a cliff

Going to be tough to tag, Hunt, Hibb and Lever. Hunt will be the odd man out as his skills let him down at times. That leaves the other 2, would you tag 2 in your fwd line?

Robert Walls in the Age:

Lever 5: Unable to breakaway from Jacob Townsend who hit him hard to cause fumbles.
Talia 2: Looked slow, gave no attack, just three disposals, probably his worst game of the season.
Brown 4: Good on Rioli early on but confidence shattered when outmarked by Dustin Martin in the second term.
Kelly 5: Solid in defence but no flow in second half as all Crow defenders lost their nerve to attack.
Laird 6: Great start but faded as game wore on.
Hartigan  4:  Solid but no attack, lost the dare to move the ball on quickly as game progressed.

Laughable that the Crows want two first rounders for this guy.

Now Im not judging him on his grand final performance, the kid is 21 after all and the Crows were garbage.  But the fact is he is a 3rd defender whos strength is intercept marking and spoiling.   He hasn't shown he can play 1 on 1 or lock down a key forward.

Pick 10,  take it or leave it.  Though pick 27 is fairer, is this kid better than Hibberd?

imho the 2 picks are just an opening ambit bid( or demand).  Hard to mark down from a reasonable price. So set the scene;. They ( or their media friends) have. Game on. Nothing new.

I agree as it happens that essentially pick 10...but with a later swap of picks is fair. But it's footy :)

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
