Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Melbourne training stadium

Sorry if this has been done before.

Now I know we have two training grounds but do you ever think we'll have a stadium devoted just for Melbourne? Like Richmond, Collingwood, Essendon and so on..

Entering their grounds and seeing their team colours everywhere and portraits and club history makes me wish for Melbourne to have the same. Too feel like people have entered our territory.

If we decided It's time to build a red and blue training stadium where would you like it located? How do you picture it looking like?

Looked into a base at Elsternwick park, but one small problem. We didn't have the $35 million required to fund it.

Very familiar with it. I play football there myself. Same amount of room that Collingwood have at Olympic park. Been to both. The stand is beg and if demolished and rebuilt would easily accommodate our needs. There is also ample room on both wings, especially the orrong road side.

beg to differ. a venue for the future, including back office needs more space than that. then there is parking. also, if spending big money need provision for future growth. i too have played there in the old vfa days.

I have to say its the one of the big things that concerns me about our club. This convo comes up every year and seems like it goes nowhere. Does anyone know any inner workings at the club around this? Is it discussed?

Other clubs get the Govt to pay for most it somehow....and I feel we've been really left behind. Given we're in the days of ever increasing player power the lack of a home stadium could come back to hurt us. Even the lower  supported Vic clubs have them. Stkilda , North. I think we're the only AFL side without a real home. And yes , yes, the MCG etc but we cant train on it anymore or meet the players  on it ....or go there after out premiership win in Sept.

Wellsy I reckon PJ has he many conversations about it, and as he been discussed it is a complex issue.

Venue, money, access for fans, can admin staff fit into where it is located (do they need too?) etc.

I know Gosch is a public space but surely some semi permanent stands can be built with shading/covering, merch area on training days?

They talk about covering the train lines every year or two, and Eddie gets on the bandwagon as well as he will Want Collingwood as close as possible, but this is the perfect space for our base. It is next to the MCG, we could either move the admin into the new building or stay in the G, we could build a small stand including gyms etc, and it is in a highly visible space for advertising etc.

The most important part of that article from PJ is"  "We're looking at that because this [the MCG] is our spiritual home and there is a great emotional advantage in solving that one".

PJ gets it!  He understands we want:  a place to call Home, to have our colours permanently featured,  to have pictures of our heroes deck the halls and above all somewhere to display our 12 Premiership cups and Flags.

What are the reasons given for not training at the MCG in winter? Clearly it's unavailable throughout summer because of the cricket, but if the reason given for winter is the state of the turf, does that even matter any more now that the ground has "replaceable" turf? I'm wondering whether the long-term costs of replacing the turf are still cheaper than building a permanent training facility.

The MCG

Should be on our original home oval at least once a week.

Is Waverley Park an option once the Hawks shift? The training facility (inside) is quite run down now apparently but IF a reasonably cost effective fix was viable it might make a decent option and a pretty good social club venue also. Been out there a few times for functions and has a nice friendly feel to it not unlike Whitten Oval or Kardinia Park

After 1987 i don't think Waverley is a good idea.

In regards to family day, I don't know why it isn't just held in Yarra Park car park outside the MCG. This seems the most logical idea. We need to push this with the MCG. Just like the AFL uses the area on Grand Final day. You can set up activities for kids, rides etc. Plus, the Demon Shop is adjacent and it would be a great opportunity to sell a range of merchandise. I would actually love to see family day held out in the park and along the concourse at the MCG. I know the club likes Luna Park for the rides. Let's be honest though, I reckon most parents gave up on the rides due to the massive lines.

Elsternwick Park is currently going through consultative process on best use of the park. It would be perfect in my view. Can hold 10000+ even without/before redevelopment. Could include the licence of the almost never utilised bowling club next to it for social club. 400 meters to Elsternwick station. Trams and Nepean Highway right there. 25 minutes from town. http://yoursaybayside.com.au/elsternwick-park-masterplan

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
